I think sometimes this mod stops working here and there? The speeds seem to have reverted to normal without any other changes made, mod files are still in the Override folder
Hey guys, I made an alternative movement mod, which should only affect Geralts movement rate (and maybe that of friendly dogs;)). Please check it out and if you like, post some feedback.
FMG - Faster Movement for Geralt https://www.nexusmods.com/witcher/mods/788
I wish this mod could increase only the player speed, not NPC because they look strange running so fast :P Also 16% seems to be a lot, perhaps a 10% version would be a good idea.
Anyway, the mod is good and very useful, thank you author :)
Geralt's original speed is too low, but this mod's changes seem exaggerated. I tried the provided lowest +16% increase, but it feels like +200% (and the movement becomes jerky).
It would be somewhat ok anyway.. if only NPCs and monsters didn't boost their speed x3 as well! (very noticeable and annoying after the prologue)
I'm checking the files and whilst "moverates.2da" seems correct, "creaturespeed.2da" is a bit strange, because all its entries are set to the same values o_O
---
In the end, I chose to start from the original files and then use custom values (even if I'm still testing them):
I agree 16% seems too fast still ... something like 10-12% would be nice, but I have no idea how to do that. I can't seem to extract the original 2da00.bif to get the original files. And how did you determine the values for each *.2da file above?
God bless you, now the game has become actually funny to play. I was pulling my hair out because of the shitty nature of the game but this mod has saved me hours of boredom. thanks! %24 movement speed for the win! If I could I would download a %200 speed too :D
Christ alive, the instructions couldn't be any clearer. Either over a thousand of us who endorsed this are geniuses or you're just a f*#@ing moron.
- Go to C:\Program Files (x86)\The Witcher Enhanced Edition\ Data\Override - If the "Override" folder doesn't exit, create one within the same directory - Choose a speed and OPEN that folder - Paste the contents (creaturespeed.2da and moverates.2da) into the "Override" file. - Done. All you have to do is play the game. If it doesn't work the first time, save the game and load it back up. Otherwise, you'd have to learn how to f*#@ing read and follow instructions properly.

The speed is still a bit inconsistent as reported, but a save+reload seems to fix it.

Hi, I used the program "UnBIF" (with WinXP compatibility). I selected "main.key", then all keys, clicked "Read", extracted 2da00.bif to a temp folder and finally copied the original 2 files.
Btw this mod's +X% actually refers to the numerical values change, it doesn't seem to match with the resulting speed.
I selected my custom values after various trial & error. From what the modder said, the game sometimes doesn't use the correct parameters for Geralt's speed, but also "default","slow" and "normal". I'm not sure about that, but well, NPCs shouldn't remain too slow anyway. So, I increased just a bit all low speeds and set "Witcher" and "Geralt" equal to the new "Fast".
Btw, I'm still testing, I don't have sure values at all. The game must use some weird formula I didn't manage to understand.
P.s: why didn't this reply appear in the correct place?
ya I still use a very slightly modified file from the original, he still jets, but not as crazy as the ones in the mod here. Sometimes it seems to depend on zone i'm in.Currently in chapter 4 and seems to be more consistant, but seemed to be all over the place in ch 2 & 3

Nevermind. After some further tinkering, I think I found the responsible line. Doing some more testing.
I tried the provided lowest +16% increase, but it feels like +200% (and the movement becomes jerky).

3..Slow .............****...SLOW ..........1.50.....3.00.....0.9......0.1

5..Fast ...............****...FAST ...........2.50.....5.00.....1.1......0.2
9..Witcher .........****...WITCHER ....2.50.....5.00.....1.1......0
- moverates.2da

The WinXP compatibility flag was my issue.
Guess I get to do some testing now too hah
