Was going to replay TW1 and I had forgotten how much I loathed the blizzard visual effect. Also, the time slowing is horrible (imo). So thanks for the mod, endorsed ! And I'm going to try to change the .33 time compression to .50 to see if it's better for me ! Hope you don't mind !
Again, thanks for this great work ! (I read the little story on how you created the mod haha)
edit : time compression at .50 is just great and no more blur ! Kudos to you !
Just started using the mod and seen your post, just in case it's still useful for yourself or anyone else, if you open the reflex_apply.ncs file using notepad there is a line "g_Module:SetTimeMultiplier(0.33)" if you change the (0.33) it will change the time so 0.50 is 50% slow time and (1.0) is normal time. Setting it above 1 doesn't speed up time that I can tell.
It's so relieving to know that there's someone out there who makes your dreams come true! Crawling around under the effect of the blizzard blur was the one most horrifying in-game experience. And as the potion's itself is pretty handy... Well, just wanna say thank you. Now I don't feel "Hedgehog in the fog" every time I need a blizzard drink. I could've written " don't feel lost" in the line above. But "to be a Hedgehog in the fog" is what we Russians say when one's lost or feeling at a loss and it sounds both strong and ironic. It came into use after the great cartoon by Yuriy Norshteyn was released. So using it, as I just lack the proper English equivalent. Thanks again.
I stopped using Blizzard because I hated the effect so much, but I didn't really think about it until someone wrote to me and asked if I could mod the effect out. Oh, huh. Hadn't thought of that. Could I? Hmm, let me investigate... :-)
Thanks for telling me about "Hedgehog in the fog"! I love hearing about idioms in other languages; they always have so much flavor.
Anyway, thanks for the comment; I'm glad to hear that you're finding the mod useful.
Menduksay, this mod goes into your The Witcher Enhanced Edition\Data folder. I recommend that people make an Override folder inside their Data folder, so that they don't get their mod files confused with the files that come with the game.
Notice that your The Witcher Enhanced Edition\Data folder is NOT where your saved games are; it's where your program files are. The exact location of this folder varies, depending on whether you bought the game on disk, got it from GOG.com, or got it from Steam.
If you have trouble finding your The Witcher Enhanced Edition\Data folder, then go to the shortcut that you use to start the game, right-click on it, and scroll down to Properties, then click on that. The Properties box that pops up will have a path to your launcher.exe or witcher.exe file in a box labelled Target. Make note of that path! The path to launcher.exe will lead you to your The Witcher Enhanced Edition folder, which will have four subfolders: Data, Launcher, Register, and System. The path to witcher.exe will lead you to your The Witcher Enhanced Edition\System folder. Just go up one level, and you'll be in your The Witcher Enhanced Edition folder, where you'll see those four subfolders: Data, Launcher, Register, and System.
Good day, excuse my ignorance but I'm new to the community and would like to know how do I install it. I just need to specify the path where you unzip these files, should be similar to DA and to Skyrim. If you can also tell me the path of this mod "Plentiful Herbs for TW1" I see it is the same author. Thank you in advance for the help. Edit: I just read that goes into a folder called "Override" but I'm confused, that folder is created our directory to install the game or in any of your folders?
I have a friend who has chronic migraines who can't play computer games at all; I'm glad that you can. And thanks for letting me know that this helped.
For someone going back to play the Witcher late having missed out on it when it came out, this mod is a godsend. I'm a chronic migraine sufferer and the blizzard blur was actually painful. Thank you and a big ENDORSE
Well, I appreciate this mod, even if no one else is going to leave a comment.
Thank you very much for doing this. I never used Blizzard because of that blur, and it will be nice to finally be able to. Nice one.
Edit: I will come back to endorse this when I have play-tested it (and also when the hour is up). I didn't want you to think I was coming here to say how great your mod is, and then not endorsing it.
