<<< (Info from the wiki is based on the table-top game.) Career paths: In Rogue Trader, one player typically takes the Rogue Trader career path, representing a ship captain who has been granted a warrant to explore and trade outside the limits of the Imperium of Man. The other players act as members of their crew. Other career paths include:
Arch-Militant - A combat expert.
Astropath Transcendent - Like the Psyker, someone with psychic powers, using them to communicate over interstellar distances.
Explorator - A Tech-Priest tasked by the Adeptus Mechanicus to rediscover lost science and technology.
Missionary - A cleric of the God-Emperor, spreading the word of their religion into the dark corners of the galaxy.
Navigator - Another psychic, but one whose skills lie in directing the ship itself on interstellar voyages, relying on the psionic beacon at the heart of the Imperium.
Seneschal - The Rogue Trader's right-hand person, running their trading enterprise.
Void-master - Expert in running a spaceship.
Kroot Mercenary - from the Into the Storm sourcebook.
Ork Freebooter - from the Into the Storm sourcebook.
Kabalite Warrior - from the Soul Reaver adventure.
Wych - from the Soul Reaver adventure.
Ork Weirdboy - this new career for Ork is added in "Navis Primer."
Tau Fire Warrior - this career was added in "Tau Character Guide" for web-only "Twilight Crusade."

Now for the fun stuff: Thanks to posted guides from users Valkinar and atowns00, you can play as pretty much any NPC in the game. If the upcoming DLC ever introduces new races/factions, I'll add them to the list. Below are just some notes of what we have so far. (NOTE: you can also just apply what you learn to your own current save.)
IMPERIUM OF MAN - For overworked guardsmen who storm battlefields with lasguns and a faint hope of not dying before dinner.
Space Marines
Sisters of Battle
Adeptus Mechanicus
Astra Militarum (Imperial Guard)
XENOS - For the galaxy’s weirdos who sneer “mon-keigh” at humans and rock scales, claws, or furry vibes.
T'au (N/A)
Tyranid (N/A)
Aeldari / Drukhari / Harlequins
Orks (N/A)
Necrons
Genestealer Cults
CHAOS - For warp-fueled ravers who crash galaxies with tentacles and a vibe so cursed it breaks reality.
You get all your base-game companions by the end of act 2, the secret ones are already included. The gear in my images isn't included. So either unlock it by playing through or use Toy Box by Cabarius to spawn the items you want. You can use ReDress by ADDB to transmog your equipment into armor pieces that aren't obtainable.
How did you make the Aeldari characters playable? Is it the same as doing it with Ulfar? Also is one of the save files set to already be one of the Aeldari? I've always wanted to play as one of them.
If you're talking about getting the Aeldari companions, you can do that in the story, but no, I didn't make them a main character.
It is possible to replace the Rogue Trader in the game with any other NPC so long as the character is in the party. At the moment, I haven't figured out a permanent way that won't cause bugs and glitches.
So for now, every save is just a preset Rogue Trader that you can respec to w/e you like, but the secret companions have already been unlocked. I'll look into changing the main character to a different NPC/companion when the new DLC(s) get released.
That part was simple enough; I left out the details because I'm still testing. The same process can be used for Owlcat's Pathfinder games.
It's possible to change the main character to whomever you want. But you would have to replace all the other ID references in the save's data to match that character's details; otherwise, the game will bug out and you'll be stuck (nothing will progress forward). That's why the safest way to do this kind of stuff is to use "Playable X by ADDB" or similar mods that can edit your Rogue Trader to other background presets.
I know a lot of people wanted a playable space marine from the very start, but this is the best we got so far.
Well, good luck then. I tried to give RT an Marozhai body. I replaced everything like his through some kind of mod. But his eyes became bulging and ugly, and his skin color did not change. I hope one day eldar/drukari will be added to the editor. Firstly, I like the Eldar, but the last normal game with them was a dow2:retribution. Secondly, drukari have not appeared in games since Soulstorm (not counting BGA 2).
PS And if you create a clone of Irliet and Marozhai through a Toy-box, then rename them (like they have evil twin brothers)), will there be no mistakes? To have more Eldar in the team)
Yes, you can spawn a clone using Toy Box to add to your current companion(s) list; there will be no problems, and it won't affect the story characters that I've already included. It's also easy to remove any additional party members if you don't like them anymore. Try the "Darrius" New Game file if you want to do some testing; it already comes with some extra Eldar for you.
You're starting again. BUT, you have some friends this time. "Using the power of Tzeentch, I tore open a portal in time and flung the Rogue Trader into the past!"
Translation: These saves have the "secret" companions unlocked from the very start because I manipulated the save files manually without mods. Now you can play through without worrying about doing a special song and dance. And yes, they do appear on your ship so you can speak with them, so if you encounter your current party members "again," you can do w/e you like without consequence. (I don't recommend inviting them to your current party if they are already there.).
I toggled the "Ignore Equipment Restrictions" cheat option in Toy Box. I was curious how some characters looked while using certain weapons/equipment
So sister Argent is using an Astartes Bolter, which is specifically designed to be only used by space marines, so that's why it looks goofy.
Outfit-wise, ReDress by ADDB is what's doing most of the work when swapping out parts for my characters.
Here's a tip when using ReDress: When you swap out the parts you don't want with the parts of an outfit you want, you don't have to save and reload to see the changes. Open Toy Box and give the character you've tweaked a "morph" / "polymorph" buff or just any kind of buff that changes your character into another, and then remove the same buff.
This will revert the character model and apply your changes without the need to reload your game. (I think the author was developing a workaround, but if it hasn't changed, try this solution)
When the final DLC for this year drops in December, I'll update the information with what I've found and also share more about how I got my characters from the final act(s) back to the very start. just need to test a few more things.

These characters do look good! Dying to get more content for this game as its fantastic
