Hello IlexManor Lone time since I last played , and wanting to start another play thru, so checking out mods for it, ... Want to ask , is this mod play nice with this Character improvement -- https://www.nexusmods.com/vampirebloodlines/mods/163 ?? And just to be clear , if I have the vtmb patch do I still -- Copy the "materials" and "models" folders into "[...]Activision\Vampire - Bloodlines\Vampire\" -- ?? Got it -- C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Vampire The Masquerade - Bloodlines\Vampire
My outfits won't conflict with Player Characters Improved, because I gave my edited head and body textures unique names, but that mod doesn't contain upscaled textures for my outfits. So they'll work together, but the Malk won't look the same as the other fledglings. Up to you if that's ok or not for your game.
And yeah, the Unofficial Patch doesn't replace the Female Malk models, so if you drop them in the Vampire directory they'll work just fine.
I have clan quest mod now, and extraction from rar file, to where you instructed, still has her showing up as vanilla , let me try again n see what I did wrong o.O Ok went into wrong folder I should kept cliking n put into nerxt folder being " vanpire " all good, thank you still a great mod
Really like the outfits! Is it possible to use these for the default Brujah female PC as well? I think these would fit her pretty well How would you go about it though? I tried messing around with the clandoc file but wasn't able to figure out what to change
You can swap out any Fledgling with these models, yeah. If you want to do this via clandoc: Find the line
"TemplateName""Player_Brujah"
A bit below that line is a block of filepaths/filenames ending in *.mdl. These are the models the Fledgling uses. You'll have to replace the lines starting with "F_Body0" through "F_Body5" with the ones from clan Malkavian. Those will be below the line
"TemplateName" "Player_Malkavian"
You can also replace the "F_Hands" line if you want. Brujah and Malk first-person hands look the same. You'll have to start a new game after editing clandoc. Changes to clandoc don't play nice with old saves.
Hey thanks a bunch for the quick reply! I was able to switch the female Brujah with your model by making the changes like you suggested! :D Is it also possible to use some of your outfits with other character models? I mean keep the original model but only change the outfits from your mod? I really love the first and third outfits from your mod a lot and was wondering if I could use them for other clans as well. I have the Patch extras and the SDK tools installed already in that's needed
Glad you got things working and you like the mod. :)
You mean combine the outfits with another character's head? That can be done, but not by editing the game's settings files. The head is part of the model, so you'd have to make new models in some 3d software. I'm afraid I don't take requests for that sort of work.
Thanks for all your help man! I was worried that editing the game setting wouldn't be good enough and it would require some 3d modelling I gave up and decided to just use your mod as is for my playthrough :P
Would it be possible to switch round the armour02 and armour03 files by changing the file names manually? Assuming it wouldn't work due to coding reasons but I'm tempted to give it a try out of personal preference.
Edit: Well I tried it... The armours show fine but my character's head turned into the dreaded purple and black texture lol, oh well Edit 2: I am a baka. Turns out I forgot to install the necessary head textures from your file; I didn't check the armour0 folder properly since I was only going to install the models for armour2/3. After putting them in as well everything works fine. Thanks for the mod.
Yep, that's how it works. You can swap things around by moving and renaming the models. Just the models, not the textures. The game points at the model, and the model points at the textures. Renaming/moving the models doesn't change the internal reference to the folder(s) containing the texture data.
Also yeah, all the models use the same head/eye/teeth textures, and those textures are in armor0. All the Fledglings work like that.
The outfits don't look any worse on the PC than on the NPCs they normally appear on—although overalls never look good on ANYBODY, period—but if you're trying to make the fem-Malk's clothes practical, you're missing the point of Malks.
And if you just really, really hate feminine bodies and cannot stand playing a game where you might see a pair of polygonal buttcheeks...well, for one thing, you should probably be playing a PlayStation exclusive instead of VtMB, but more importantly, there are non-revealing outfits you could swap onto the fem-Malk that still make her look eccentric and thus actually fit the character.
To wit: Fem-ghouls in Grout's Mansion, a couple of blood dolls, the nameless NPCs in white dresses that hang around the Asylum, Therese, the bitchy girl at the restaurant in Chinatown—pick any four of those and it would look better and fit the character better than what you actually went with. I'm sorry, but absolutely nothing worn by a PC who casually engages in a shouting match with a Stop sign should be sensible.
tl;dr—technically it works, but aesthetically you missed the forest for the trees.
Dude, I'm a huge Malk fan and also schizophrenic (who has argued with inatimate objects lol) and have also played/read through Vampire The Masquerade TTRPG material, so sorry to randomly ramble at you about this but I think maybe I can tell you this stuff. I think you're being a bit weird about this, just because someone did a favour for those who enjoy Malkavians without wanting to walk around like a caricature of what a mentally ill woman looks like, or simply because similar Malkavian fans wanted a new wardrobe.
Aside from that, everyone plays their Malkavian their own way, so not liking the new clothes simply because 'they don't fit the character' is a bit odd because the player themselves decides their character. I'm sorry for getting all up in your business about this, but this kind of whiny negative post on a modder's gift to the community is kind of lame :/ Maybe you just weren't feeling good the day you decided to make this post, but try not to be a bummer like this again, okay? : D
You would have to edit the models to swap out the head. If your planned head has animated hair, different from the Malk's ponytail, you would also have to change the skeleton she uses. I'm honestly not sure what issues you'd run into if you used a skeleton other than one from the PC models.
So, yes, but it would take some work. I'm afraid I'm not taking requests for that sort of work.
