  • 1.4a Brighter Update

If this version is liked enough, I'll do it in an EX and Max DoF version too, was just lazy this time.  Besides, I only adjusted a couple of values I think, and it seemed to really make the difference in letting the darkest areas be more bearable, and it made bright lights perfectly bright.  It is difficult to find the right balance for a light to be bright enough and not too bright where it bleeds "#FFFFFF" all over.

And in hindsight I made the original DoF before as I did to give the game a dream-like feel, because the game felt like a dream to me in its atmosphere and chill locations.  This time the DoF feels more actually realistic, though that is subjective to my current preference.

If it matters, I also have an Unrealistically Realistic shader/end for other...

  • Update 1.4 Final

Hopefully this is the final version.  Took all-new screenshots, too.  The SSAO is not quite as harsh, but it should I think look nicer.  Also uses new versions of some shaders which allowed for another option or two.  The film grain is now limited to dark areas only for blending purposes....

  • Update 1.3 Bug fix and more

A bug in the cutscenes was fixed, delete your effect.txt file.  Also version 1.3 dropped, and has deeper and hopefully to your liking more polished SSAO.  There is also improved HDR and when talking to NPC's they look even better now, with more lighting....

New update 1.2.  After looking critically at the SSAO, I redid a lot of its settings, and now skin tone on all models is improved, and SSAO improved everywhere else.  Whenever it comes to achieving a given effect, often compromises need to be made.  Ideally, a way to get every wanted change with none unwanted and this has been achieved as far as the SSAO now.

Also, the quality of DoF was increased noticeably, though in my testing this resulted in 1 FPS lost at most.  After looking again at Toaster edition, another change was made to how it handles brightening darker areas, as it didn't quite fit the same atmosphere in terms of darkness as the Normal version.  So that's fixed now with a small change....
