Would you be able to answer a few questions? I'm thinking of creating a sword to clone the black metal one. I've seen a few swords on some 3D model sites that would fit this game's mythos and style.
What is needed, mesh, 3D model? What other tools/software do you need/use?
Its not that simple to create 3D models and texture maps from scratch but you can learn if you have tons of time to kill by watching tutorials on youtube. A preexisting model also called a mesh could be used but needs texture map (color), specular map (reflectiveness), normal map (fakes bumps and crevices in a flat surface). I use 3ds MAX but blender is a free alternative for the modeling and photoshop for the maps. The custom textures mod has an explanation for how to import into game if youre replacing. I havent figured out yet how to create a new standalone item in this game.
