I can't get this mod to work. I followed every single step precisely, Re-installed manually multiple times and when i load my existing save file in the game, nothing changes. Am i suppose to manually modify something else so the system detects this mesh as the active one ?
>Go to custom meshes mod page here: https://www.nexusmods.com/valheim/mods/184?tab=description >Download main file and 1st optional file. >Main file goes into Bepin>plugins
*Optional file contains 2 things. A stand alone file and a folder.
>The standalone file should be assimp.dll, this goes into the base game folder. >There should be a folder BepinEx>plugins>AssimpNet.dll and AssimpNet.pdb >Both the dll and pdb files go straight into the games Bepin>Plugins folder. >Run the game, this should generate a folder called CustomMeshes inside of the plugins folder >Contents of this mod go inside that Custom meshes folder.
This is exactly what I did and mine works. It's important that you manually install these
I missed the optional part :) The folder structure is ...\plugins\custom meshes\wood_fence\ in order to be recognised. I missed the folder during manual install too. Had to look in the prefab list.
Not trying to be an arse, but 8 months later and the mod still stands unfinished. - Hammer UI still says "Roundpole fence" and displays the wrong sprite. Fix for this is a must.
Following improvements would be welcome. - An option within a config file to allow snapping. - Optional download with the fence as an extra structure, instead of an overwrite. - User-friendly optional download with the prerequisites (Assimp.dll, AssimpNET.dll, CustomMeshes.dll, BepInEx) bundled.
Its a free mod and 8 months after release. (12 months+ now) don't be such an arse as you said yourself and make the mod work on your own if you care so much.
I honestly gave up trying to get it to work despite really wanting this texture replacer and the author does not reply to anything here anymore it seems.
Actually I got it to work, just had to go to CustomMeshes mod page and download and copy the assimp.dll file to the Bepinex location as mentioned below. Once I did everything worked! Looks much better than the default fence.
