    >Go to custom meshes mod page here: https://www.nexusmods.com/valheim/mods/184?tab=description
    >Download main file and 1st optional file.
    >Main file goes into Bepin>plugins

*Optional file contains 2 things. A stand alone file and a folder.

    >The standalone file should be assimp.dll, this goes into the base game folder.
    >There should be a folder BepinEx>plugins>AssimpNet.dll and AssimpNet.pdb
    >Both the dll and pdb files go straight into the games Bepin>Plugins folder.
    >Run the game, this should generate a folder called CustomMeshes inside of the plugins folder
    >Contents of this mod go inside that Custom meshes folder.

This is exactly what I did and mine works.
It's important that you manually install these

I found and downloaded assimp.dll --but I am NOT finding AssimpNet.dll. Can someone point me to the download URL and/or explain how to get it?

I honestly gave up trying to get it to work despite really wanting this texture replacer and the author does not reply to anything here anymore it seems.

Actually I got it to work, just had to go to CustomMeshes mod page and download and copy the assimp.dll file to the Bepinex location as mentioned below. Once I did everything worked! Looks much better than the default fence.

Please update the mod requirements (at the top) to mention assimp.dll and AssimpNet.dll. I think it's causing some confusion. I did follow the instructions and the mod doesn't work but I'm sure there's a conflict.

Hi there, it's another .dll you have to download from the CustomMeshes page.

Awesome! Is there a way to add this fence as a new recipe instead of replacement?

If you have knowledge of scripting and know how the game loads objects then I'm sure there's a way to do it.

I'm struggling to get this to work. I've looked through everyone else's posts and even installed the "assimp" files... yet I see no change to my fence. Am I missing something? I'm not getting any errors or any other strange glitches. I'm kinda at a loss here.

      Hello

Just to double check, you have the latest CustomMeshes.dll installed? Also if you can post an image of your CustomMeshes folder layout from Valheim\BepInEx\plugins\CustomMeshes\wood_fence\New I can take a look and see if something is wrong there.

      Another thing to check:
      assimp.dll is in Steam\steamapps\common\Valheim
      AssimpNet.dll is in Steam\steamapps\common\Valheim\BepInEx\plugins
      CustomMeshes.dll is in Steam\steamapps\common\Valheim\BepInEx\plugins

I just found this mod today so I hope the files here are the newest update. i dont know how to get a snapshot of my screen so the "new" file is called _Combined Mesh [high]

And I checked the place of the dlls... they are in the right spot.

If you have the correct file layout and plugins in the correct places then I'm entirely unsure of what the issue could be. I downloaded the current CustomMeshes.dll to test and it works fine with that.

When i installed the mod and custom meshes using Vortex, it placed assimp.dll in the BepInEx/plugins folder and the folder wood_fence in the plugins folder and not the CustomeMeshes folder.
After i moved the assimp.dll to the main Valheim folder (the one with the exe) and moved the wood_fence folder inside the CustomeMeshes folder, it worked fine.

So if you installed using Vortex, take a look to make certain the files ended up in the right place.

After a new install on my laptop i think i found the problem.
In order for the CustumeMeshes folder to exist (where the fence files need to be placed), you need to run the game once in order for the folder to be created.
So if you install the CustomeMeshes mod and this mod at the same time, vortex will not place the files in the correct place.

So you need to install the CustomeMeshes mod first, then run the game, then install this mod.

Vortex is not currently set up to install the optional files from CustomMeshes (i.e. the assimp files needed for this mod) in the correct folders, same for this mod as it is packaged at the moment. (If it came in a CustomMeshes folder it would work with Vortex right now as Vortex will simply install it to BepInEx/plugins)

However, we're just now testing a new version of Vortex support that will likely be out tomorrow that will handle both textures and meshes correctly - regardless of packaging. We hope to do the same for the assimp files as well.

As of today, you'll need to install the assimp files (all of them) from CustomMeshes and this mod manually to ensure everything goes in the right folders - if you do, then it does work.

I'll keep that in mind for future projects and use this in descriptions too. Current layout of the .zip is more for manual install and assuming people already have a CustomMeshes folder in their plugins folder.

Nice mod! I assume this is one of those that others in a multiplayer game won't see unless the all have the mod too? I'm still figuring out which ones are like that vs which ones aren't.

That's correct. It might work for all players if it's installed in a dedicated server folder however I'm not 100% sure as I'm not certain on how mods work in that way.
