The download page said to check the description page for a more detailed installation guide, but all I found was this
This doesn't really feel very explanatory, it does not mention the folders at all, so I'll ask, where does one place these folders and if they are to be extracted to only the base .png files why was this not communicated in the instructions for clarity?
Please supply us with clearer guidelines on installing this so that everyone from modding guru to total noob can install this manually or otherwise and get it working, thank you in advance.
I'm not sure how much clearer I can make those instructions. It tells you everything you need to do, including how to get to the plugins folder. What exactly isn't clear to you?
In the download it has 2 folders as shown in the picture I attached, the instructions make no mention of these folders, what to do with them, or the contents of them, all it says is to extract the contents into the bepinex folder, so by that logic, I should place the folders found within your mod inside the bepinex folder without extracting them yes? This is what I mean by more precise instructions.
For example, do they go into the Custom Textures folder or somewhere else? This would be useful information
They go in the plugins folder as stated in the instructions. Extract the contents of the archive into the plugins folder. I'm not sure how you can construe those instructions as anything other than, extract the contents of the archive into the plugins folder. You should end up with the dll file and the single badgersvalheimskies folder in the plugins folder.
I'm not trying to be difficult here but you have all the information you need to install the mod. Just follow them and the mod will work fine.
That's fine, I just wanted to be 100% clear since a lot of other mods here tell you to place folders into a custom folder and not the plugins, hence why I wanted to double-check that I was indeed reading the instructions correctly. I wholly appreciate you taking the time to respond to my comments despite my insistence that I have it clarified, Thank you and good job with the mod.
You need to extract the texture pack into the root of your plugins folder so that the files will end up in the correct folders for my mod. If you extracted the texture pack into its own folder within plugins this will not work.
Thank you for the suggestion. I extracted the PNG files into the plugins folder so they aren't in their own folder. It still isn't being detected. Any additional ideas?
Unfortunately that is due to how the base game works. Even in vanilla you can see the stars durinig the daytiime. They are more apparent when using this mod because the star textures are a higher quality and often have a much higher contrast.
So I installed the mod and I'm pressing H in game but nothing is happening. I made sure to check if it was installed correctly and it is. So I'm not sure what exactly the issue is. Any ideas?
The only way that can happen is if the mod is not loading correctly. I'll DM you a link to my Discord, should be able to determine what the problem is from there.
Think there's a hard coded path in there somewhere. I'm running on linux, putting things in "BadgersValheimSkies/Skybox" doesn't do anything in game, but I did notice that a folder "BadgersValheimSkies\skybox" was created on first run. Putting skyboxes in there works in game.
So after some tinkering I found out why my mod wasn't loading. First my BepinEx was out of date, so I updated it. Still nothing. So next I went and thought, "Maybe it's a server side issue." So I went and spun up my own single player world first to see. I found out that it is in fact that.
TLDR: If you are playing on a friend's world, they most likely need the mod too.
Other Notes: If you go into a single player world, you can configure your settings there, then go over to your friend's world and you will still see the custom skybox, even while being unable to open the Skybox GUI.
Yet Another Note: You cannot make edits while there is network activity. IE. Someone in your world, which could be the source of all the issues above.
