I'm building a quest and trying to use this mod to have locked doors in dungeons. The player would find the key in a chest or loot it from a monster or get it from an npc. All I need is the item ID of the key. I know the generic version is "DoorKey" but the key would need to be pre-labeled to match a door in order to unlock it. Is there a way I can do that? For example, if I had a "Red" door, how would I spawn the Red key?
i'm not sure the author reads these. i messaged them months ago about this, but never heard back. bummer, because this would be insane for designing dungeons.

Great mod, strong Haven&Hearth vibes and nice option to make something private witchout this little dwarf ward ;D It would be great if you added "key chain" - item that acts like a backpack but store only keys. There is too little room for keys in inventory but I dont want to just make inventory bigger on my server :/

We are setting up a server with MMORPG style with a central city where there will be things that the players will not be able to do, and this mod would allow to generate a hotel, and thus give exclusive access to the rooms to the clients.
I second that. I'm using zones to give players areas they can build in but others can not edit. it would be great if they could lock certain houses or areas and grant access on a wim to players
Only issue we've had is when running on a dedicated server, logging out and back in loses the Key description and prevents you from using it to open the door it was created with.
Unfortunately as of 9/28/21 this mod completely breaks door mechanics - Your character is not able to open/interact with doors of any kind when installed.
really cool mod. would be great if you could make it so one key could open multiple doors, i.e. you could open both sides of a gate with a single key instead of generating 2. also like others have mentioned duplicating a key (maybe at a forge or crafting bench?) and maybe a keychain would be cool (adding multiple doors to one key, would make this slightly less of a problem). oh and theres an issue with the key remaining after the door gets deconstructed. it can be circumvented with deletion mods, but its probably better not to rely on those.
Neat mod, this is a good for RP servers instead of having to use wards for everything. Some feedback:
- New doors should produce a different colored key. This could either be random or user selected. - Keychain would be useful to only take one slot and hold x amount of keys. You would probably want a way to split/join keys from it. - A way to copy the keys as somebody mentioned.
@aeden i have like ...5 more styles of keys in each metal color if you would like them i also had this concept and planned to look at the code to see how to do it
