Thank you!  For anyone wondering, it should be completely safe to add those entries to your config file, and if you screw it up horribly, just delete the config file and it will be recreated with default settings when you relaunch the game :)

How would I do this for the Thunderstore version? Any time I updated the Config it would reset itself upon game launch. I put in (Add ashwood_floor_2x2,ashwood_floor_1x1) Another question is if there is a way to make it work in Thunderstore then what about modded buildings, would I just put them in the config the same way?

does not support using flipped wooden walls as roofs (prefabs are woodwall,wood_wall_half,wood_wall_quarter); however as a previous comment mentioned you can add ashwood floors to the config without issue. maybe theres something with the way walls are tagged in the game? I doubt rotation would be the cause.

I have installed this in a clean Valheim install updated to Ashlands and it works with no red text or conflicts with any other of my mods.  Just thought other users would like to know.

Hi there.  Just put this mod in my plugins, but doesn't seem to work.  Is there some issue with the latest patch?

No matter what i do it always tells me the bench needs a roof. I dont use vortex or anything like that just manual.

    Thanks

(oh and no red script comes up in bep when loading up)

Thanks.  I do plan to update this whenever a patch breaks it and this is the first that I've heard that there might be an issue with a recent patch.  It's been a few weeks, do you still have the issue?

One thing that isn't quite obvious, but benches sometimes need roofs that cover more than just directly above them.  Technically they need a roof over most of a cone that's at a 45 degree angle upwards, so if you're building a little nook or lean-to you might need to overhang it by another roof piece or two.

I love the idea of this mod and I'm going to use it, but might I make a mid-tier suggestion for lore purposes? Make a copy of the existing floors that are affected and recolor them slightly so they can be distinguished between the normal ones, and add them to the construction list. Properly treated wood can resist rain well, so add a material to the cost like Resin for example.

This way people can still opt to use the normal cheaper version of wood and have rain affect its durability like normally while they can replace it with your 'treated wood' as players become more resourceful and can afford the change.

Either way, whether you're planning to use this idea or not, I appreciate all you've done and to bring this mod to us!

Thank you!  I like the suggestion, and I agree that resin would be a perfect way to treat the wood.  One downside with doing that is that it would prevent the mod from easily being removed (I think the pieces would disappear and possibly lead to more things collapsing), and if the mod broke during a game update then you wouldn't be able to play until I fixed it.

Valheim has proven a lot more stable across its updates than it looked near launch, so maybe I'll do that in the ashlands timeframe.

Getting a lot of red text after this loads.  Does this have a new list of incompatibles?  Any ideas why this would throw errors?  I didn't get the log file, so can't read it.

Sorry, without those details there isn't much I can do to investigate.  If you were trying to use the mod without Jotunn (a modding utility used by most mods these days) then I would expect many errors.

If you do have Jotunn installed, please try the new version 2.0.2 which I just uploaded.  I got a bug report today from someone who was getting errors because I hadn't properly declared the dependency on Jotunn which meant it was possible for the mod to initialize prior to Jotunn, and that would have caused a lot of red text.

Reading the technical description - does this actually modify the save? What happens if you remove the mod after using it?

Or does it just change the leaky tags to roof every time the building parts are instantiated by the game? (Which would not modify the save.)

Edit - Also I guess this works for existing floors and not just newly built floors?

It works by modifying the tags on the items when the game initially creates the piece database as part of game startup.  It should be safe to add and remove.  It will immediately work on all existing floors, and if you remove it they should start acting the vanilla way again.

Is this mod intended to also prevent wooden floors from taking rain damage?

Update:  I'm a dope; the description says it does this.

It doesn't appear to prevent damage to existing floor pieces on our server, at least prior to 2.0.  Will check out 2.0 tonight, and also see whether newly-placed floor pieces are immune to rain as expected.

Update 2:  Still doesn't work.  Floors take full rain damage, same as anything else.

Hi - sorry for the delay, I missed the Nexus notification.  It does seem like it still removes rain damage from the floors the mod patches.  Some of the pieces you have listed there aren't roofs.  I wouldn't expect this to successfully remove rain damage from walls, because I think they'll fail an earlier check and bail out.  Removing rain damage from all pieces is out of scope for this mod.  I recommend using a dedicated mod like AzuWearNTearPatches to configure this globally.

    Bonesbro,

Does the latest release allow for adding Wood_ladder and Wood_stair to the prefab line (I think there is also a ladder in More Gates)? I tried adding them and it didn't work. If not, would you, could you, if you pretty please, add the ability to use ladders as roofs? They look SO pretty in a gazebo build, or when used as a skylight in your house. I wanted to put one in the roof over the bed, but it won't let me sleep, and a soggy bed from the rain makes me a sad Panda.

    PrefabsToChange = wood_floor,wood_floor_1x1,IG_Chevron_Floor,IG_Hardwood_Floor,IG_Big_Chevron_Floor,IG_Big_Hardwood_Floor,Wood_ladder,Wood_stair

Hey, seems like you got Odin Architect to work. What did you put for the hammer tool? I added the same list of things that you have above but it still doesn't acknowledge the IG floors are roofs, I don't think that it's finding them. Thanks in advance!

It's odin_hammer. While this does keep the rain off of you, you can still see it coming through the pieces. So it rains inside your building, but you don't get wet. Still needs work, it seems.

Yeah, they don't work out of the box because the pieces are designed differently and don't have the same structure.  The angled ramps from Odin Architect have the same problem.  I agree that it would be good to support them - I've tried to use them as skylights too :)  I'll try to spend some time to add this feature soon.
