The Yagluth's Beast Experiments mod is meant to be played without a guide, half of the fun in the mod is to discover new powers and figure them out.

But if you really want to know what every power does, here they are!


Blob

Start Message: Blob!
Status Name: Blob Power
Duration: 5min
Description: Allows to jump higher + never take fall damage.
Extra: Thought this one is easy enough to spot: jumping is a common move, there is no condition and there is no ambiguity in jump height. Might just make it a surprise and give no clue about the power in the name and start message.


Boar

Start Message: Beast's Friend!
Status Name: Friendly
Duration: 10min
Description: Allow to tame creatures way faster, also tamable creatures won't be afraid of you as long as they are not frightened.
Extra: When a creature sees a player character it's supposed to be afraid, stopping the taming process. It is quite cumbersome, fixed it.


Deathsquito

Start Message: Flight!
Status Name: Flying
Duration: 20sec
Description: Allows the player to fly. Flight is mainly looking at a direction then pressing the forward key to go there.
Tip: The lighter the player is, the faster they will be able to fly. Also you can use stamina potion to fly longer.
Extra: This one's been hard to balance as we don't want it to be objectively better than other traveling powers, but we want it to be exciting and fun to use. Finally I settled with slightly reduced speed, heavy use of stamina and a short activation time.


Deer

Start Message: Naked Run!
Status Name: Naked Run
Duration: 10min
Description: The player runs faster when not having greaves or armor equipped.
Tip: You can keep the helmet and weapons/shield.
Extra: The reason why one must be naked to activate the power is to not make this power a significant battle upgrade, only a mobility/traveling upgrade.


Drake

Start Message: Charging Up...
Status Name: Gather Stamina!
Duration: 10sec then activation.
Description: After 10 seconds, will fire a stream of ice projectiles. The length of the stream depends on the amount of mana you have at the start of the stream.
Tip: For more damage, use stamina enhancing food and try to have full stamina when the stream starts. The stream will end if you perform any attack or defensive action.
Extra: Each of the 3 elemental powers have heavy drawbacks as they are quite powerful combat powers. The ice element power drawback has a "keep your cool" vibe to it.


Draugr

Start Message: Resurrect
Status Name: --
Duration: activation only
Description: Will bring you back to the last place you died. Works 1/4 of the time at pure random. Other times it will simply consume the Beast Essence and prompt the message "Didn't Work...". If you cannot go through portals (because of ore in your inventory for examaple). You will never be resurrected and the message will be: "Something's Not Right?..."
Tip: --
Extra: I want players to still feel the thrill of going somewhere not knowing the dangers. Having a handy resurrect card at will (because you know, you will respawn in your bed, where you can bind yourself to any trophy you want, including the Draugr.) seemed really strong,  I made it more costly to use.


Draugr Elite

Start Message: Warrior's Stance 
Status Name: 2Hands Bonus
Duration: 10min
Description: Enhance 2 handed weapons. Enhance parry power to be on par with same tier shield. Enhance damage dealt by 30%. Stamina usage +15%.
Tip: --
Extra: There is one way to "optimally" play the game: 1 handed + shield. I wanted to give a little chance to 2 handed weapons with this.


Fenring

Start Message: Fenring Lunge!
Status Name: Fenring Lunge
Duration: 10sec until used once.
Description: When you jump, you lunge forward. Every character near you during the lunge takes damage: 250% the currently held weapon's damage. You can only jump once. 
Tip: Try to align as many enemies before lunging. Will hurt other players. You can also lunge out of danger in a bind. 
Extra: Had to increase the mass of the player while lunging, otherwise the first small enemy would stop your lunge. This means that theoretically, you can lunge into a boat and launch it* 

*not tested.


Fuling

Start Message: Reinforcement! 
Status Name: Fuling
Duration: 1min (summoned characters die after 1min)
Description: Spawns 6 greydwarves 0 star to 2 star at random.
Tip: Greydwarves will divide the enemy's attention for a short while.
Extra: One of the last powers I found. The concept for Fuling is "group" as they mainly hunt in group and can be found in villages. However... fulings are so strong that my strength target would be 1.5 fulings, not so much of a big sense of group/community...


Fuling Berzerker

Description: +20% to all damage, further +20% to da
Tip: Greydwarves will divide the enemy's attention for a short while.

Fuling Shaman

Start Message: Fuling Shield! 
Status Name: Shielded
Duration: 1min
Description: You, as well as players 10m around you, are shielded. 100% of damage received is negated while shielded and the shield absorbs 100dmg from attacks before shattering. 
Tip: Even if the shield has 1 dmg left to absorb, it will absorb 100% of the next attack then shatter.
Extra: This shield is exactly the Fuling Shaman's shield, I only added a displayed icon and name to the status effect.


Greydwarf

Description: doubles all mushrooms, plants and berries when foraged.

Greydwarf Brute

Description: Adds much drop chance for everything. If original drop chance is higher than 66%, the drop amount will be raised by one.
Tip: Use that when trying to hunt for particular trophies.
Extra: I really did not have any idea for Greydwarf Brutes, so I stuck to similarity with the Greydwarf power, but implying a little more violence.


Greydwarf Shaman

Start Message: Healing Shower! 
Status Name: Healing
Duration: 20sec
Description: You, as well as other player 10m around you are healed. First tick of 10hp, then 3hp per second for a total of 70hp of healing.
Tip: To maximise party healing, try to regroup before using that power.
Extra: One of the obvious powers.


Leech

Start Message: Raining Blood!

Description: Inflicts the "Wet" status effect to any character, allies and enemies for 2 minutes.
Tip: Wet enemies will take more damage from frost, the Neck power buffs its user when wet.
Extra: The underdog of the pack. It seems like it does nothing, then you may notice it wets and think nothing of it. Then you may find its uses. Now you got spoiled. Maybe you can find other uses to it?


Lox

Start Message: Pounder!
Status Name: Pounder
Duration: 10sec until used once.
Description: When jumping, will jump a little higher, then slam on the ground, hurting enemies in an area around you.
Tip: The higher you jump from, the more damage you will take and the more damage you will inflict. Beware and use that to your advantage. It will not trigger if you jump from too low.

Neck

Status Name: Neck Power
Duration: 10min
Description: Boosts stamina regen, health regen and movement speed when wet. Also allows stamina to replenish in water.
Tip: It's a nice but very situational power... unless you can reliably get yourself wet.
Extra: The first power I ever did, its "complex" interaction with situations made it a nice proof of concept. When I first showcased the unfinished mod, replenishing stamina in water was the most popular request.


Rancid Remain

Start Message: Rancid Aura!
Status Name: Rancid Aura
Duration: 10sec
Description: Inflicts 120 poison damage over 10 seconds to every character ally or foe, that comes near you.
Tip: Activate the power and just run through enemies for the next 10 seconds. Make sure you have 4-5 enemies to hit with this for it to be worth it. Try to stay away from allies.
Extra: Could have used poison on the power of the Blob, of the Greydwarf Shaman and on this one. I believe nothing defines the Rancid Remain apart from poison, so I decided to use poison on this one.


Serpent

Start Message: Sailor's Charm!
Status Name: Sailor
Duration: 2min
Description: Boosts speed of boats you are in.
Tip: Beast Power cooldown is 2 minutes and this power is 2 minutes. You can sustain this power as long as you have Beast Essences. Also boosting speed greatly increases the speed at which the boat steers and changes direction (forwards/backwards).
Extra: At first, this power was 4 minutes and gave half the speed boost it gives now. It did not feel like much. I doubled the speed boost but halved the time, still a little on the weak side for a trophy as hard to get as the Serpent. I might double that boost but halve the duration again!


Skeleton

Start Message: Sharpshooter!
Status Name: Sharpshooter
Duration: 30sec
Description: Arrows are almost fully drawn and focused as soon as you start drawing, but it uses much stamina: you can shoot way faster.
Tip: Get stocked on stamina before using that, then drill arrows into your enemies! Now you will be able to shoot staggered enemies.
Extra: Without the extra stamina usage, this power is ridiculously OP.


Stone Golem

Start Message: Unchained Portals!
Status Name: Unchained Portals
Duration: 10sec
Description: You can go through portals with elements that are normally not allowed in portals.
Tip: Because the power lasts so little time, its better to make as little travels as possible with this power activated.
Extra: The Greydwarf Brute's power has been inspired by the fact that obtaining a Stone Golem trophy is super hard to do. With the Greydwarf Brute's power, you can more reliably get trophies and this one is quite an important one.


Surtling

Start Message: Fire Punch!
Status Name: Surtling Power
Duration: 10sec
Description: You are stripped of your weapon and now shoot powerful explosive fireballs every time you punch. It also inflicts 100 fire damage over 10 seconds to the user.
Tip: Be sure to have enough health/regen to use this power without dying. You can also use fire resistance to reduce the damage.
Extra: For now, because of some bug in Valheim, the area of damage is added after the projectile is created. Because of that, at really close range, the area might not trigger and sometimes the fireball will not spawn (get destroyed before appearing). I might use the more complicated, alternate way of adding AOE in a future update.


Troll

Start Message: Hoarder's Strength!
Status Name: Strong
Duration: 10min
Description: You can carry 150 more in weight, you can also push and pull items more easily.
Tip: Pulling carts and pushing boats will be way easier with this power. 150 more weight can also be useful when mining.
Extra: This one was inspired by the fact that when I was using a cart, I could never pull it up the slightest slope because it was too heavy.


Wolf

Start Message: Predator's Prowl!
Status Name: Prowling
Duration: 2min
Description: You and Players 10m around you are instantly hidden from enemies for a split second and you are sneaking. Your sneaking power is super amplified, doesn't use stamina and you walk way faster while sneaking.
Tip: Use that power to get away from chasing creatures, but first get far from them, try to hide. Otherwise it might be a good tool to take out villages.
Extra: Stealth is pretty much dead in this game past the Deers, wanted to boost it and maybe make it useful in certain situations.


Wraith

Start Message: Summoning Shadows!
Status Name: --
Duration: 2min
Description: Spawn a ghost random from 1 to 2 stars for each creature within 10m of you, you included.
Tip: Ghost are still of the undead faction, so calling ghost upon undeads will put you in trouble. Also, if you stay close to them they might aggro to you.
Extra: 2 star ghost are a little too strong and 1 star ghost are clearly not strong enough for a trophy of the caliber of the Wraith.  So... random between both! Exciting!
