Question: Does this mod rewrite the gross descriptions that come up within dialogue sequences? Because that bugs me a lot more than cussin'. I'd rather someone say "s#*!!" as an epithet than elaborate on the various stains that are visible on the inner thighs of a prisoner tied to a post.

I just wanted to confirm here for everyone that this mod does remove gross descriptions as well as the profanity.  I've replayed the game for 5 hours now and the only gross thing I've read is "anus", which is way different than I remember the game.

Wow thank you so much for doing this.  The foul language was keeping me from replaying this game and I finished it ASAP to skip the horrible dialogue, missing out on so much of the game choices and exploration.

What ? It be 2020 now, but for any of you coming across this mod, here's some "proper" English:

Eh, George Carlin is brilliant in many ways but he was way off the mark with this one. He says something along the lines of "If we still used the word shell-shock I bet all the Vietnam vets with PTSD would have actually been listened to" which is... hilariously fanciful. Shell-shock wasn't a word used due to its viciously brutal vibes to refer to poor souls damaged by war and in need of help - it was explicitly derogatory. If you came back from WWI with "shell-shock" you were seen as a weak, pathetic man, mocked and derided. The two terms he mentioned in between were also not a product of society using euphemisms to avoid the truth, they were examples of the powers that be using euphemisms to hide the truth from society. To downplay the hell that war is and the trauma that it causes so more people would enlist, or at least fewer would protest. And finally, when we get to PTSD, we're not using a euphemism to soften the blow, we're using scientific language to describe a condition so that it becomes easier to identify, understand, study and treat. The example he uses in this clip is essentially displaying the opposite of the message he's attempting to convey - which, fittingly, is almost comedic in its contradiction.

I know I'm very late to this party and you're probably tired of people commenting on this, but I just have to ask: why?
I'm not attacking you over it or anything (that would be childish and comically insecure at best...), I'm just very confused. This is a game about evil. The first major choice of a playthrough is to side with the gaggle of psychotic killers who force their victims to fight their friends and family to the death, or the nepotism-ridden, eugenics-advocating group of authoritarian racists. Even the "good guys" in the rebels' side are often of very dubious character. The game allows you to manipulate, coerce, murder, torture and brutalize people on a whim. It's a game about evil, and expects you to do evil even when your ultimate goal is arguably good. And it doesn't hide this fact, it knows what it is, it tells you upfront before you buy it. I don't understand why this exists, because if someone is so opposed to simple crass language, why would they ever want to play this game in the first place? Who goes "I can appreciate a good murder and torture session, but I draw the line at the f-word."?
Just... genuinely confused. What was your thought process here?

No reason to edit and censor the game. Not much profanity in this game and when there is it's for a reason. I think your time is better spent elsewhere modding something that adds content rather than removing it.

Weird how many people are like.. mad.. at you, for creating this.
Are they angrily commenting on the brazilian mod as well, screaming why would you want the game language modified?!?
Not for me, but I applaud what you've done here.
Our world is better off learning to replace f this and f that with normal words, if my kid as a teenager wanted to play a game and I saw an option or mod like this I would definitely download it.

So what was the project, exactly?  I'm assuming it was some kind of program to recognize certain language.

Also the irony of this being made for the EDGE program.
