Modding Fallout 3 - Part 1 : Getting Started with FWE and Marts Monster Mod

  • Comment

The first video in my new series describing how to mod Fallout 3. It is aimed at people completely new to modding, but will require that you have installed Nexus Mod Manager (NMM) and the Fallout3 Script Extender (FOSE). You can see my previous videos if you have not installed those.

I followed each and every instruction, but I'm having a bit of a problem. I downloaded and did everything to get FOSE working, tested it out and it worked fine. However, at the very end of this video, after all was done, I tried using the very same FOSE link on my desktop that worked before, and received the message:

You have an unknown version of Fallout. Please check http://fose.silverlock.org to make sure you're using the latest version of FOSE...
    (CRC = E28382BE)

I don't understand, it worked fine before installing all of the mods. Whats the deal now? (By the way, I use the Fallout GOTY Steam edition).

One small hint for archiveinvalidated: The readme says "ArchiveInvalidation Invalidated! can be run from anywhere, it will read your Fallout 3 path from the registry and if it cannot find it/path is incorrect it will ask you to choose your Fallout 3 folder."

Also do not forget about FO3Edit and FO3Plugin.

FO3Edit- A great program for creating patches multiple mods and .esp files together to avoid conflictions.
FO3Plugin- A great program used for combining .esp files together into one.

With the complexity of the mods these days, these are starting to become mandatory.

    EDIT:
NVM. this is just an introduction for those who are either new to the game or who are coming back who are out of the loop.
