Just so other people know, if you loose your shared stash there is a backup file. But you have to use the backup right away. So if you log in after messing around with mods (I must have done something I shouldn't have) and you notice that your stash is empty past the first page like I did here's what you can do to fix it....
Navigate to Documents/My Games/runic games/torchlight 2/modsave/(BIG OL' STRING OF NUMBERS)/shardestash_v2.restore
Copy the entire numbered folder onto your desktop in case this breaks it you can put it back.
Delete "sharedstash_V2.bin"
Rename "sharedstash_V2.restore" to "sharedstash_V2.bin"
Relaunch the game and check your shared stash again.
If its still empty then it saved after you emptied it (on accident) and you're sol like me but I did test this after the fact and it does in fact bring your items back if you do it right away. This can also be used to duplicate items.... Use that as you will...
Just a general warning too, don't mess around with any mods that edit items with this mod installed and expect your loot to stay where it is. Get your mods in order and then download this one.
CONS - no freaking tutorial on how to install the mod. I hate it when modders assume that we are MIT graduates or something to figure out how to install and run these things.
Seriously, OP, stop assuming that everyone is a genius like you. I might be a 80 y/o grandma who barely knows how to start the computer (I'm not a grandma, but I'm just trying to make a point), so make a habit out of posting a 3-step, one sentence per step tutorial on how to install and run your creations (I'm speaking to all of you, modders everywhere!). It's not that hard, someone else already posted that tutorial for your mod on GOG forum, so if that guy (God bless his good heart) could write 3 sentences in an organized manner so could you, OP!
PROS - the mod works great, whoever's not capable of running it or having issues / bugs / whatever with it it's probably because you're running other mods at the same time and they conflict with each other... or something's wrong with your version of TL2 or the client that runs it (steam, for example). But the game itself works just fine with this mod, so the problem is with YOUR version of the game, not the mod itself
I can't believe you complained about the documentation for a 6 year old mod that someone made for free. While I agree with you on this issue in principle, your attitude about it was annoyingly condescending, as if this mod creator personally wronged you or something. I was just checking the posts to see if this mod still works (since it was quite old even when you got it), but I'm inundated with your senseless drivel, making it seem like you need to be a "genius" to look up how to install TL2 mods. Every game has a standard modding procedure, and once you know how to install one mod for a game, it's usually just doing that again with different files for any other mod. Yes, ideally mod creators should include this info, but it's crazy to get upset if they don't. Moreover, if this mod really does need some special procedure or extra steps to install, you didn't mention how to do it either, so your post is hypocritical by also lacking the info. Modding is a collaborative community effort after all.
Extract mod folder/files into C:/My Documents/My Games/Runic Games/Torchlight 2/Mods To use your previously unmodded characters, copy or move all the files from /saves to /modsaves under the /Torchlight 2 parent directory above.
I think it's important to remember that you are not the author's boss, parent, or god.
Your comment is the equivalent of a homeless person getting mad that the 10$ bill they just received doesn't come with instructions on how to use it to buy a sandwich.
Mod authors are often times just some guy who made a thing that they were going to use for themselves and a friend convinced them to put it up online. We aren't paid for our time and we don't have to upload the things we create.
Comments like yours lead to mod authors actively avoiding putting their creations online. If this mod wasn't here you'd be talking to the developers saying that they didn't make the stash big enough. Marioface did you a favor and you got angry at him for it.
Go hug your loved ones, have a cold drink, and remember: it's just a game. Spread love not hate and all that. I hope you have a wonderful day.
I've been using a different mod - Stashed - which works well but has proven inadequate when juggling a half dozen or more characters. Will adding this mod and removing that mod simultaneously retain my shared items? If not, how do I switch from one mod to the other without losing anything? (Too many items to create a couple of temporary "mule" players to hold during the transition.)
In an other RPG game the pets can have multiple inventory pages, but the stash can have only one. If someone could look into it than it would be much appreciated. I will tell the name of that game in PM.

Confirmed working for 1.25.9.5 on June 23, 2024.
