Thanks for sharing your mods! How did you get just the blade to be transparent? (like on PS1) I tried the same thing a while back, but everything always ended up transparent, so I finally gave up. Lol
Sorry for my comment being machine-translated. It's a great MOD pack, but I'm not an English speaker, so it's really hard for me to sift through the MODs I want to use. A guide with images would definitely help, but it’s okay if that's not available. Still, I really appreciate all the effort you've put into this!
Thanks! What language do you speak? I can try to translate the images with information I have on here. I would have to find an accurate online translator
This might be one of the few mods on this page that leaves me speechless, I think it's a wonderful job, congratulations, but, although I'm prepared for the answer to be "no" could you please separate the files that change something in Lara "like her gloves or boots" from the rest? I think I need a little help, because although I want most of them, I don't need all of them, for example, I want the new doors for Bartoli's Hideout, but I don't want anything related to Lara's weapons, I want Shiva's swords to shine but I don't want the Diamond Lara outfit... I need a little help with that, maybe I'm too dumb, but I see everything too mixed up and it's a mod that I really want to use
Same here! I don't know what I'm installing beyond the folder "Alternate sungalsses, Shiva swords only shiny, Falling Ice, Small fan, upv vehicle, shiny secret dragons"
Are weapon/item models to ignore if you have custom guns.
And models starting with OUTFIT_ are the costumes for Lara.
SALAMI.TRM are the sunglasses.
80**.dds are the textures for Lara you can ignore those.
If you can't preview DDS files, install XNView, it's a free image viewer that supports tons of formats. So you can see what changes if you try to replace files.
I hope a version with JUST the level and enemy changes comes out because with how many Lara mods are out there people who mod will end with a mismatched set of parts.
Thanks for your comment, it's really helpful, but there are still a lot of mixed files and I'm a bit lost, I'll take your instructions into account anyway.
Hey thanks! Working on a list of what does what. On the description page I say a bit about the crystal mods and that it’s best not to use anything in the experimental crystal folder with the regular shiny items. I’ll either add a readme file to the mod folder or write a list in the description of the mod if it lets me write that much
list of what item does what and where its location is, is now in the main description in the photo section. its also in a 'read me' file in the new update that has more switches added
First of all, I want to thank you for taking the effort to make the entire list. It's very necessary. It must have taken you a long time, and I appreciate it. A mod this big and impressive needs a guide. The only thing we need to know now is what the textures do. Many of them are for menu items, I understand that, but the rest? If I install, for example, the Door_4.TRM item but don't install any textures, will it work? I know there are items that don't need textures to change, but I don't know if this is the case.
5013-5018.DDS files in multipel subsubfolders are part of Simplified Menu Items - A solution to get bug free texture slots by Tms2, it's used to free more non-glitchy texture slots. You'll have to use those if you install any items that use the now-free slots or replace the menu items.
Now onto folders, in 1/TEX:
4808.DDS passport stamps, related to the slots file. 4809.DDS green grassy thing, is that the texture that eats Winston all the time? 4999.DDS looks like tiles in St. Francis Folly level? 5002.DDS looks like compass, 5005-5010.DDS are passport files for TR1, equivalent of 5013-5018 in TR2-3
8004.DDS backpack 8005.DDS brown boots for most outfits 8092.DDS black boots (used in Nevada)
^ ignore those 80xx files if your Lara outfits are already modded.
8900.DDS are glasses/accessory, if you're installing SALAMI.TRM, grab this file too, it's only in 1/ folder as costumes are. 8910.DDS is Dagger of Xian.
Most other 2/TEX files are related to that door in Bartoli's Hideout. Except 1275.DDS, which is Golden Mask face on wall texture.
For 3/TEX:
5048.DDS is Kayak/paddle 9000.DDS is Shiva
No idea what 5004.DDS, 5057.DDS and 5020.DDS are for.
GENERALLY, installing 2/3 textures is safe, and for 1, only a few textures could be problematic, but you can just backup the entire 8xxx.DDS files in your folder, install every texture from this mod (and cherry pick TRM making sure to install the menu-related files anyway) and see if backpack, shoes, belt buckle or other accessories look wrong, if they do just restore textures 8004, 8005 and 8092 from your backup.
P.S. I'll also need to selectively install those since my game is very heavily modded and I just passed Venice in NG+.
Thanks for the added info! i just added more aswell but for the items, made another update to the mod theres info pictures in the description and in the update as read me files. im even getting confused on how textures react with other mods but as far as i know the textures in the second game are crucial for anything to correctly display without errors. the rest of the textures in 1 and 3 are used for models that were flat turned 3d, cubemaps(reflections) for the shiny objects and the rest are just part of the simplified menu mod for everything to work as it should. im going to tell everyone on here to download the update because the mod definitely was not working properly before this 3rd update
i deleted the old pictures added more pictures that should help with whats what in more detail than the last ones. also there is a 3rd update as the mod was not working properly before.as for textures KasumiRINA left good info on them below. from what i remember 5895-5898 in tomb raider 2 TEX is crucial for every shiny object across all 3 games to shine properly. the rest of the textures are used as cubemaps (reflections) and then the rest are part of the simplified menu mod which is also crucial for everything to work, without the simplified textures which is in this mod you will start seeing objects that were never included in any mods be turned black or have random incorrect textures on it for example the keyhole beside laras bed is a good indicator for this issue that can happen without using the textures included in this mod.
tl;dr: install textures in 2 and make sure you have
Note on simplified menu items: I already had it installed and SOME of the slots were already taken by costumes I use, 4808.dds, 4809.dds and 4999.dds, those are used by Yolandi's Laura Cruz attire. Are those slots used for reflection cube maps for items in 1? It makes sense one is layout of thunder room and another is grass... So if I haven't replaced them it, will reflect Lara's outfit material, awkwardly, instead?
So, I did not overwrite those three textures and almost nothing in 1/TEX, BUT installed basically everything for 2, both TEX and ITM (except Lara model & weapons, though I might use shiny Uzis and Glauncher since I switched to default models for those – most grenade launcher mods corrupt a lot of textures), and so far it seems working, if there's some conflicts in the first game, I might overwrite those as I get to replaying it.
But I can confirm that just installing TR2 portion with door fix and shiny enemies, objects and statues works fine, did a quick run of Bartoli's Hideout.
Oh I also kept most of the menu items from original texture slot mod. Did you change anything in the passport?

I have another question, about optional file "Alternate sungalsses,Shiva swords only shiny, Falling Ice,Small fan,upv vehicle, shinier secret dragons, less shiny tr2 venice boat"
Less shiny boat and shiner dragons are clear, what do optional files for falling ice, small fan and UPV do? Like files for them are in main install too, are the optional versions less or more shiny?
*** *** ***
P.S. There's a mod that swaps M16 with a Tommy Gun that the guy in the Great Wall cutscene uses, I made a version without gloves for myself to use it with Vegas outfit and stuff, it would be cool if it gets shiny too... I can post the bare hand model in comments. Is it a very involved process or just some flag set?
I’ll double check, but yes if you replace any of the textures the reflection of the object that uses that reflection will change to whatever texture you changed it to,won’t be that noticeable as most traps are moving so less time see them but yea. The alternate upv changes what parts of the upv are shiny one has the yellow part shiny and the other has the black part shiny..the alternate ice has a different texture incase people didn’t like the first version, and the alternate small fan was the fan in Venice opera house just changes what parts of the fan is shiny
"Thank you, FantasyRaiderr! You did a great job—it finally got rid of the black door. However, the mod included a lot of files, and I noticed three additional ones. Are these necessary? Also, could the mod conflict with any existing mods here? It would be great if you could clarify or improve compatibility." "I noticed that the boat appears very shiny, with a full reflective surface. However, since the boat is made of wood, it shouldn’t have such a glossy finish. A metallic shine on the frame would be more appropriate—could this be adjusted?" If you could rename the images here the same as the trm files like DOOR -4 ,so I can choose what I want to replace.... Or separate them completely from each other. I would appreciate it
I can make the boat less shiny. but no gurantee it wont look shiner in pitch black environments like your second picture there, thats just the way the game handles shiny things in dark environments, the brighter the less you see it and the darker the more you see it..but will make a less shiny version. at the moment im just making a list of all items in the 1-3 files and what they all do/where they are in game.. also be sure to look at the images i posted with this mod for other answers to questions that might pop up :)
Oh, thank you for your response. Regarding the .trm files, I’m not sure about some of their names or which models they refer to. I really like what you did with the doors—I think it’s a necessary and complementary modification that deserves to be separate from this topic. I understand that the mod requires a clean version of the game without many modifications, but it’s good to know that some of them don’t cause conflicts.
All done, made a list of what every object in the main 1 2 3 files does and its location, also i put the less shinier venice boat in the alternative files. also added more switches in the update
Hey! i thought the last update was good but it turns out the issue with the boat there was a texture issue so i made a 3rd update thats needed for things to have the right texture. be sure to use all the textures in the new update and there was a few missing lara gloves and push switches i included
"This error has appeared from the beginning. It may be caused by a conflict with certain files or by compressing and modifying the texture multiple times. Try to avoid modifying the texture after compressing it whenever possible."
Thanks!! just did it from scratch, i didn't think of using the small one until i was pretty much done, plus this way i was able to add the holes in there

I adore this mod and I can't imagine playing the game without it! :D
Just out of curiousity, how do you make models shiny?
I have some custom weapons and stuff that I'd like to make shiny so they match haha.
Is it something you have to do in Blender?
Thanks for sharing your mods!

Did you resize the small one or remodel it from scratch?
