By the way, why does it store fluid from vertical directions but not from horizontal directions?

EDIT: Fine, just tried it out. If it does, two fluid storages will get merged.

can we just rotate the building to change the storage orientation?

if you are looking for an answer the easiest thing to do would be to clone the storage then see if you can shrink it to 1x1 tile.

i dont know how complicated modding in this game is but sometimes it's as easy as just telling the game to generate the graphic smaller.

in the end you could use a different texture altogether but put the coding for the water storage on it. in that case the easiest solution is to just dupe the light connector or even dupe the water pump or better yet both so u can have one that crosses in the liquid and one on land.

Very nice, would it be possible to make the whole thing "switchable"?
So sometimes without and sometimes with mod?
Alternatively create a new building named as "Liquid-X-Storage" ^^

I second this. Mods that change input/output directions need to add variants, not replacements. Just rename the new buildings to have "-vertical" on the end for easy identification

      This.
I agree, would be much more useful that way.

I'll look into this. Hoping for a more robust solution in the future for creating a regular x-pipe that can allow liquids to cross but I agree being able to toggle this behavior would be great in the meantime.

can you create a version with 3 separate buildings?
having one work as normal, one with the current configuration and one where the vertical and horizontal lines are kept entirely separate with separate storages if needed
