You're right, pacifists take too much risk in diplomacy with an armed target. But remember that determined, self-confident and fierce person can be also reckless! Seriously. So far I've been playing the game in the least violent way possible, helping out those in need and doing everything with ethics and common good in mind, and by the end of the playthrough I'm about to stage a proletarian revolution. Katie is basically Lenin at this point! I love this game.
