Looking really good. As Beth says - they're interesting. I jsut bought it. Now we'll see whn I get time to play it.........
I was notified - by all people- by our granddaughter. Her boyfriend told her to tell me about the sale Guess the old man earned a little respect when I showed him FO4 on a PC. He's not played console ever since

It's funny how the kids know all the "good stuff" long before we do. I guess I can't comment on the console vs. PC gaming issue. (I haven't had a "console" since Nintendo NES back in the 90's.) I have noticed that some games made for console and then ported to PC can be difficult for some of the game play and character movement.

Find some time to play it. I think you'll enjoy it. Some of the conversations are ridiculously funny. I just had a long conversation last night with this poor "company stooge."

WHAT............... Oh my... Well - I've been told that in spirit it is the REAL heir to the old (real) Fallout games so....... As for the kids - I actually already had it on my wish list and knew about it -I had gotten a notification from Steam. But I forgot. Then when I got the message from Julie I thought I'd better get moving

It harkens back to the 'good old days' of gaming. A quality game, not a microtransaction platform. The characters and story are well developed. As you mentioned, your choices have consequences. Well worth playing in my opinion. I've played it and finished it twice.

Was it Oblivion (maybe Skyrim)? Having to find 20 nirnroots, and 30 left-handed spanners or something like that. That did it for me. So clever and challenging. I played Borderlands 3 recently. It, like BL2, is filled with a number of 3-dimensional characters. Some silly, some evil, and some enjoyably insane. I enjoyed it and will play through a few more times.

One of the better games to come out recently, the first person spoiled it a little for me, I can't care for a character I can't see.

Yah, first person other than the spinning screen-saver mode. I'll have to find out if there is a flying camera. I tried the Nvidia Free Camera mode, but I couldn't get it to work.

I can't get Ansel, Shadowplay or anything else to work despite having a compatible card.

I have had trouble getting Nvidia/Ansel to work also. There are a few troubleshooting tips available online (some good, some stupid). Here is what I did --

      • Download GeForce Experience, if you don't have it already.  https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/geforce/geforce-experience/

      •  Should see something like this

      • Update game ready drivers.

      • Allow Nvidia to optimize the settings if you want. I believe you don't use an enb, so you don't have to worry about the changes required for enb.
      • Go to settings, make sure that in game overlay is enabled.

      • When you're in game, Alt+z activates GeForce. You can see what that will (should) look like while still in the GeForce control panel. Type Alt+Z or click the "open in game overlay" widget at the top of the page. I wasn't able to take a screen shot of that. What you should see is the main GeForce options -- Screen Shot (alt+F1), Photo Mode (Alt+F2), Game Filters (Alt+F3) plus other options like Record. This is just a check, but it tell what you should see and can expect to do with GeForce.

      • Start the game from GeForce Experience (green PLAY button.) I believe this is what actually activates Ansel/GeForce Expereince in game. (I don't know for sure -- does anyone?)

      • When the intro screens come up -- about the time that you see the Obsidian screen --  you should see a green tag in the upper right corner that says something like: GeForce Experience Loaded, Press Alt+z to activate. Just letting you know that GeForce Experience has been activated.

      • In game press Alt+z, to see the GeForce Experience menu. You'll be able to figure those out. Well, Photo Mode is a flying camera. You probably won't want to use that -- clunky, but it was the only way I could get "tfc" in Wircher. Doesn't work in the Outer Worlds though.

I have had to go through this process several times. Once when I did some upgrade and then I think it's Nvidia and Microsoft updating and clashing from time to time.

Maybe this will help. There are quite a few tips on-line, but most of them are for the old product - Ansel.

When I fire up GeForce Experience it finds my games but there's no option to optimise any of them, it was working a while ago so I don't know what's going on.

I used the months trial of gamepass to play through the Outer Worlds a few times when it was originally released so I'm kind of done with it now, at least until the last DLC comes out. Assassin's Creed Valhalla is the next on the list of things to play, I liked the last two games so I'm looking forward to it, more than Cyberpunk 2077 whose first person camera has put a damper on things.

Get 'em while they're hot! I think the sale continues for a couple more days. The gameplay is good, decent story line so far, interesting characters, and the fetch it quests have a purpose.

    Nice shots from the game
It caught my attention when it first came out, but I think the lack of third-person gameplay turned me away. Bethesda games have been spoiling me for years. Your character looks so much like that actor who plays the Hulk in the newer Marvel movies btw.

Thank you. There is no 3rd person game play , but I'm still hopeful about finding a flying camera. The Hulk? No, he's not green at all.   I'll have to look, I expect that's a nice compliment -- they usually pick a good looking guy for Bruce Banner.

Ha ha, you're phone carrier is censoring this game. It's The Outer Worlds by Obsidian. Thanks. I noticed there are a couple of re-shader mods available, but I haven't looked into them yet. So far the gameplay environment is fine and I can always do some post-processing for pictures.

Yep,.. I see that now, behind my PC atm,..
Heard a lot of good things about this game indeed. I need to look into that game myself and check if it would be something I would play.

I like it so far. Most of the side quests are reasonable and make some sense. Also most of the quest givers are goofy or at least interesting. The gameplay is straightforward and easy to pick up. Obsidian did a pretty good job of setting up the factions identities and their interactions, competition or hatred for the other groups. The main quest seems reasonable so far -- not too far along yet -- and is given to you by a goofy scientist. Who, by the way, is wanted by every police force in the galaxy.

My only complaint is the graphics detail. Could be better, but it's acceptable. And I've been using Ansel/Nvidia to tune saturation, contrast, etc. to my preference.

Do you think they'll ever allow modding for the game? Fallout 4 and Skyrim have fairly horrible graphics natively, but modding them makes them competitive with all the modern games.

I'm thoroughly enjoying the game meself and finally started taking a few shots of it.  I did a search for a flying camera mode for it, but nothing so far.  The only thing that's bugged me a bit is being constantly stuck in 1st person, especially when jumping between and onto things (can't see what I'm doing, not to mention screenshot wise ).  And your char is a good looking guy.

Yeah, the flying cam is driving me crazy. I generally can play in 1st person ok, but a 3rd person view sure would be nice. Thanks.

Thank you. FBC and a few others are playing. I've been sharing msg's back and forth with Pat trying to figure out how to take decent screen shots. Getting there. At this point, we mainly need to find out if there is a flying camera.
