I couldn't ever get any of the melonloader stuff from the other big site to work on my game, installed in both the survival and story mode areas. I think in the faqs on that site it even says it doesn't work for story mode but I couldn't get melonloader mods to work in survival either. Anyways as a heads up to anyone who wants lots of useful mods/cheats working on 225 I use cheat engine then go here for ct file for the game, works great. Anyone looking for more and better aids for this game go grab cheat engine and then here for ct files https://fearlessrevolution.com/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=17899&start=60
Thanks for the mod but i kinda question the usefulness as the if you sprain an ankle or anything like that the quick load takes only back to that ankle sprain point, no matter how far before you used quicksave.
That's how the game handle saves. It's like that to prevent save scumming, which is outside of the scope of this mod. This is a survival game after all. Reloading after every misfortune kind of defeats the purpose, in my opinion.
You could download another mod that lets you modify how sprains work or even disable them completely. One such mod is Sprainkle, just search for it at https://xpazeman.com/tld-mod-list/index.html. You could also play a custom game and just disable sprains with The Long Dark's custom settings.
I made this mod mainly as a way to save my game while in the middle of nowhere with no buildings around. Having to search for a building or a transition cave to save my game was a bit frustrating. The quickload function was requested, so I added it in.
How do you run Melonloader? Where do you copy the .dll file for your mod? No instructions and I can't figure it out, sorry, ty!
Update: Game works with Melonloader 0.5.7 but won't launch w/Melonloader 0.6.1 In case anyone else is getting where the game brings up a cmd window and then closes. Installed version 0.5.7 of melonloader and it worked fine. Several other people on git hub had the same issue.

You would have to uninstall the old version of melon loader 0.5.7 and install 0.6.1 in it's place. Then place the mod dll in the Mods folder that melonloader creates in your TLD install folder. Also make sure your game is up to date. This mod works with version 2.24 of The Long Dark.
Any chance you would either post a F8 Quickload version or make some way to configure it? The standard is F8 (separated by two full keys) to avoid accidentally saving/loading accidentally.
If you look at the keybindings in TLD options, it shows QuickLoad as bound to F6 and locked. Simply changing the KeyCode from F6 to F8 in my mod causes the mod to no longer function. I'll look into it but there's no guarantee I can change those binds.
