   Dude as u said its unfortunate u couldnt add it as a new item but its already amazing what u did u can't imagine how much i wanted that (future idea : can you try to make TOMMY sniper to for ellie :) )

      I tried spawning the actual Assault Rifle in story with dev menu with this mod installed and it actually worked (as far as I tested)

      you don't need the bin folder, make a copy or remove it.

   using dev tools you can add it with sounds, animations the likes. theres a lot of things actually that surprisingly has both stats/ sounds / animations . such as custom npc weapons, m14 used in tutorial mission etc.
   
   perhaps 1 could make a way that just adds the m4 on start from dev tools of a mission ? to fix sound issue *and stats*

      i've tried to but unfortunately it crashes during multiple sections 
      for example, seattle day 3 with ellie in the bookstore causes it to crash. no clue why :(
