Hello, i know its unrelated to the mod but i dont know anywhere else to look and you are my best bet rn, do you know by any chance how i can "restart" the shader compiling sequence?, i recently cleared my gfx card shader cache to fix some issues in other game and now when i play the game every time i load a new area it takes way too long because of the shaders compiling on the go, my cpu isnt the best when it comes to shader compiling and i prefer to wait 30 minutes to start playing than 2 minutes everytime i progress in the game, ty in advance
Yes! To restart the shader building process, you can delete the "psolibs" folder inside the game's directory. That is where the shader cache is stored.
If you already experience stuttering in the unmodded game after shaders have finished compiling, this mod will not help you. However it can help dividing up the shaders pre-compilation process in more steps that take less time, with minimal to no performance impact, especially if you have lower end CPUs which can take up to 1 hour or more to pre-compile shaders in the main menu without my mod
Installed the stable release according to instructions and unfortunately it seems to not launch, that is: the steam launch window opens, closes, and then the "STOP" button (in the library) switches back to "PLAY" indicating that the program isn't running.
Uninstalled and reinstalled and the same thing happened. I am using a fresh install of TLOU so I'm unsure what could be causing this.
Hi, thank you so much for reporting the issue. I'm going to need some extra information so I can understand where the root of the issue is and help you. Since version 1.3.3, I've made a lot of internal changes to the mod which should have been tested on a larger variety of hardware but I only own one rig so I could not. First of all, I need to know your hardware specs, version of Windows, and whether the game is installed on a NVMe, SATA SSD or an HDD. I also need the crash report file, which is located on your game installation folder, example C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\The Last of Us Part I\.crashdata\reports. Please upload it somewhere so I can download it and check what's wrong. Then, please remove version 1.5.0 and test version 1.3.3 to verify if that works instead.

Game is installed on a 2TB SATA SSD .crashdata/reports/: file (Its metadata says it hasn't been modified since May 2023 so I wouldn't hold out hope) I don't have time to test ver 1.3.3 right now but if I do later I'll return to add the results.
I think I might have found something that could have caused the issue: while I did reinstall the game, the unextracted contents of my 2023 sp-common.psarc were still present from modding I did that year. In theory this shouldn't effect program behaviour as the sp-common.psarc file should override any of their contents but I thought it was worth mentioning. I have since deleted the loose files and any future tests would be done in their absence.
Returned to say that I had the time to do another clean install, installed the most recent (as of 01/02/2025) version of the mod and it appears to work fine.
Thank you. I've found a group of people on Twitter who had TLOU installed and asked them to be my testers, they were of great help and allowed me to fix it. If it wasn't for your and others' feedback I would have never noticed it because it was working fine on my computer.
As of today, January 24th, a new patch was officially released adding FSR 3.1 support to the game. This means that, for the time being, version 1.5.0 is no longer to be considered usable as it replaces the old exe for the previous version of the game. Keep an eye out for the next version, coming soon! For the time being, please keep using version 1.3.3, as that is not directly associated to the game's exe file.
I've just released version 1.5.1 of the mod, adding support for the latest patch and fixing the most recently reported issues. Thank you for your feedback! Before updating to the new version, make sure to restore all files back to their original ones.
And thank YOU for reporting the issue. I will try to understand the cause and fix it in the upcoming days. If you read my reply to another comment below, it would make it easier for me to understand what's wrong by providing hardware specs, version of Windows, and whether the game is installed on a NVMe, SATA SSD or an HDD.
I tried to apply the files but when I initiate the game, this window popped up:
(GPU compatible with that or superior required) Is there something I'm doing wrong? My GPU is an RTX 3080 (EVGA FTW3, 10gb VRAM) Current NVIDIA drivers installed, using Windows 11 Pro 23H2
Hi, thank you for reporting this issue. I need some additional context and information to help you, however: - Are you using the stable or experimental version of the mod?
If you're using the experimental version, it is prone to not working properly, and as such I recommend sticking with the stable version. If that isn't working either, try using older versions such as 1.3.2 or 1.3.1 and see if they work.
I tried both 1.3.3 and 1.4.0, none worked so far... I'll try 1.3.2 and I'll return later to comment... Thanks for the heads up!
EDIT: So 1.3.2 somehow worked, but I'm a bit confused about the D3D12 files... While on both 1.3.3 and 1.4.0 you have the "d312" folder in the .rar file, on 1.3.2 they're "outside" of the folder, and there's no "d3d12SDKLayers.dll" file on 1.3.2, is this okay?
In the 1.4.0 version, I am trying a new method for shaders compilation which should lead to faster loading times and more efficient async computations, but at the moment it's unstable, that's why I've labeled it as experimental. If you want to downgrade to 1.3.3 or below from 1.4.0, the files in the d3d12 folder must be reverted to the original ones. In the 1.4.0 version zip file you can find them in the backup folder.
i saw a previous comment about not copying the nvapi64.dll if you have an AMD GPU, but that file isn't included anymore, did something change in the mod with updates? just curious. thanks!
Yes, in a previous version there was an old method that interfered with the game's upscaling implementations, so that file was required for NVIDIA GPUs to continue using DLSS, but now it's not required anymore as it has been resolved. Thank you for your support, and I'm glad I could help you.
