Hmmm, mods are popping up, question: Can you see what the difference is with enemy flinching in melee versus shooting, it's in both cases rather bad but I think I saw that they slightly improved it for melee (mainly because everyone was only complaining about melee because they played the first 20-30 minutes without finding a single gun so they didn't see how bad it was with gunshots as well). Maybe that can be modded to be more "punchy"?
I don't mean the damage done to enemies, I mean the visual hit feedback, or the lack thereof in this case. Back in the demo days a lot of us complained about it, but many focused on melee (because it's the first weapon you get and easy to miss guns early game) so Nightdive did tweak some of the visual hit feedback in the backer beta, but mainly only for melee, and left gunshots with the same muted one they had before. Just wondering if that difference is apparent in the game files somewhere, and if one could use that to improve on them, and just replace gunshot hit feedback with the melee one if nothing else.
really i feel like the melee hits just need a better sound effect instead of that wet meat noise we get. that'd do wonders to making melee combat feel more punchy.

Otherwise your mod makes the game's gore perfect, as it should be from the release. Endorsed and kudos given.

So I keep looking.
