About this mod

Replaces the music on each level with music from the original System Shock. Updated with Mickey Wilson's soundtrack remix, which also changes the intro music.

Permissions and credits
New: Mickey Wilson's remixed soundtrack! This pack also removes the MFD audio ducking, changes the intro music, and gives Beta Grove a different track than the other groves (in the vanilla game, all 3 have the same music). You can download and listen to these tracks at his website

Also new: If you'd like to make your own soundtrack mods, I've made a program to help out with that here!

This replaces level music with tracks from the original System Shock (specifically, Chicajo's arranged MIDIs, unless noted otherwise).

Please note that these are NOT dynamic, and combat does not affect music - maybe someone else will be able to create dynamic music mods.

Each .pak file contains different music. Please use one file only. Also, some can be fairly loud - remember to adjust your music volume in game.

Unzip this and place the .pak file in the folder where System Shock's main .pak file resides:
<installation directory>\System Shock Remake\SystemShock\Content\Paks

Known Issues
  • Sometimes the music in Research can be pretty quiet when leaving an elevator. Stepping into the doorway of an elevator can fix the volume.
  • Voiceovers (emails, logs, etc) do not adjust music volume for some reason. To kinda compensate for that, opening the MFD makes the music quieter than it usually does. In contrast though, the Mickey Wilson pack fully removes the volume ducking.
  • Music loop timing can sometimes be a bit off. This will almost always happen when loading a saved game - the first loop's timing will be wrong, but the rest should be fine.
  • The track in the Beta quadrant of Medical can get pretty annoying after a while. Because Medical doesn't seem to have any other music triggers (except the CPU room, which might work too), it does not stop until you step into an elevator or save and reload.
