This mod's last version was updated for v1.1.7 although it works fine with any version.  Any new written content added by the devs after version 1.1.7 will appear in Chinese although it should be minimal to none.

FAQ

Q. What source material was used to make this rewrite?
A. English localized text provided by the game when playing in English.
Q. Does this mod work with newer/earlier versions?
A. Yes, fully backwards compatible with earlier versions.  If the game is a newer version, then only newly added text will display in Chinese only.

Description
This mod is primarily designed for those who do not understand the Chinese language (vocal) and want to experience an improved version of the story and cutscene content via rewritten English dialogue! I do not understand Chinese nor is this a machine translation. Every line has been rewritten (or improved upon), by taking the provided English translated dialogue and viewing of real scene footage to deliver a more understandable,, grammatically improved, and engaging story.

What this mod includes:
- Fully rewritten dialogue in English for all story quests and cutscenes. Including battle, and in-between quest story-based dialogue. When a rewrite was not required, dialogue was either rearranged or cleaned up to make better sense.
- Simplifies complex lore while remaining true and faithful to the original story and concepts so that it is easily understandable.
- Completely new dialogue has been injected into scenes that did not add any value to the story or lore (rare but they're there!). A few (although very minimal) number of jokes have been slightly modified, added or changed to better suit a western audience.
- There is a stronger focus on emotions, although most are quite subtle, there are some scenes that are quite intense in both romantic and sad moments.
- Rare instances where dialogue made little to no sense at all has now been deciphered and explained!
- No more grammatical errors (if so, please report them).
- Clean up of some text, including rogue "~" characters, excessive use of proceeding ellipsis and hashes, tried to add some more text consistency (like OK is now Okay).
- Battle references are improved.

NOTE: This mod does NOT contain any explicit language and is safe for all audiences.

My experience making this mod:
This game has an amazing and very cute story! Unfortunately, the English translation is somewhat poor, and many concepts and references are not well communicated.  During my first few playthroughs, I generally felt the translation was understandable, but after spending countless hours analyzing each sentence, I realised very important character and story elements were either unclear or not impactful enough in order to work properly.  Some examples would be the romance and jokes, you notice it's there, but its effectiveness is poorly executed.  There is so much lore I never understood, jokes I never got, and romantic references that simply fall flat, but the intention from the original script is definitely there!

There were few severe instances where I had absolutely no clue what someone was trying to say, it simply made no sense at all! These were my greatest challenges, it required me to observe both the visual representation and vocal attributes of the characters in the scene, and the studying of preceding and post dialogue references.  In few extreme cases, doing all of that was futile! In such instances I used my creative mind to formulate what was required to fit the situation and I was happy with the results (perhaps I even got it right!).

Other challenges were mostly technical, constant typos due to my bad keyboard, alt-tabbing and not being on the right screen, then inserting unwanted characters into the translation file, and lots of testing, which meant playing the supported chapters over and over again (on easy mode though!). During in-between quests and battles there are sometimes triggers that cause dialogue to spawn, I tried to capture most of it but oddly each playthrough did not spawn the same dialogue.  You may run into some rare instances where dialogue has not been rewritten, feel free to report it.
