I installed the mod as indicated, and there is NO folder called Legacy Yacht in the .zip file, just an entities folder. I never received the lineage when I completed the Curator's request. Unfortunately this seems to leave me kinda sunk, but it kinda looks like the installation instructions are incorrect. We'll see if it works this run now that I've unzipped the file in the Sunless Sea folder instead.

Oh, my mistake! You should be able to create a folder yourself within the addon folder, and this folder can have any name you want. As long as it looks like Failbetter Games\Sunless Sea\addon\[any name]\entitiesit should work.

Edit: In the latest update, there should be a folder called Legacy Yacht.

A very needed mod for an otherwise rather useless ship. So, neat work!

However... Even with that, my experience showed me that the yacht wasn't that good for a captain who inerited it.

Why? Because of the choices one would make for the new generation regarding their scion, and because of the amount of money you'll usually have at the end of a run.

Page is a big no-no since you'll loose way too much xp with a revealed map.
Heart is very situational and really not that exciting since it will cut a portion of the story.
Iron is good... If your session ended very abruptly and your captain didn't had a chance to gain a decent amount of echos.

So it leaves the two others, who mean you'll start with a good amount of cash from the beginning if your previous captain had the chance to do a good amount of things on the zee... And that's precisely what you'll have to do to fullfill the Curator's request: it's a long quest, and you're gonna probably end it with a lot of echos.

So here I am with my second captain starting with 50 000 echos (I didn't even grind that much, just sold everything I could before my previous captain's end), and I can indeed begin with the yacht... But I can also just buy myself a better ship from the get go. I guess a solution would be to modify the yacht so that it has an alt / forward slot.

Still, thanks a lot, no bug at all.

There's a minor incompatibility with Sunless Stories, as that mod changes the Curator's End event to give you a token for the yacht instead of the deed. Easy to fix on the player end, you just need to go into Sunless Stories events, the Curator's End section, and replace "AssociatedQualityId": 999107, with "AssociatedQualityId":111431, so you get the deed as normal.

That's quite strange. The mod was designed with this feature in mind. Are you running the latest version of the mod?

Thanks for this mod. The Yacht is in a very awkward position of being a very early game ship that takes a sort of late game quest to get it, so being inheritable makes perfect sense.

That being said, Any way to still be able to do the Curator's quest? With this mod you miss on several captivating treasures, which are a boon for the early game.

I have several ideas on how to potentially still be able to do the Curator's Manse, but they are all a little more advanced than the current version of the mod.

      • I could wait until SunlessSeaSoftcoded releases an update to add new legacy items. The main problem with making the Deeds a legacy item right now is that it is consumable. If the player uses the Deeds, it doesn't carry over anymore.
      • I could add a new quality that you would only get after picking the Deeds as a reward (fixing a loophole in the mod), that would reward you the Deeds in Venderbight when you start a new game (like it does now). The problem with this is that I would have to edit main story branches (very tricky and messes up compatibility). I currently have no idea how to do this, but I might be able to figure it out, or ask friends for help.
      • When the player recieves the Deeds, trigger an event that gives you a new custom quality which allows you to recieve the Deeds on a new playthrough. This is by far the easiest way, but also the most unimmersive.

I will be looking into all of these options in the future, and perhaps I'll create the third option as a band-aid solution, until option 2 or 1 can be applied.

The mod has now been updated with method 3! You can enable the First Curator's Manse again by either dying, or removing this line from your savefile:
      {"Name":null,"EquippedPossession":null,"Relationships":[],"XP":0,"EffectiveLevelModifier":0,"TargetQuality":null,"TargetLevel":null,"CompletionMessage":null,"Level":1,"AssociatedQuality":null,"AssociatedQualityId":111532,"QualityName":null,"QualityDescription":null,"QualityImage":null,"QualityNature":null,"QualityCategory":null,"QualityAllowedOn":null,"Id":0}
