The shopkeepers in Lenele are the best way to check. Their inventories should be expanded, and the potions as well as scrolls sold there should have descriptions.
I haven't played this in many years so I can't remember what the Lenele shopkeepers usually have. By descriptions do you mean the Info tab that says 'This potion heals small amounts of damage'?
None of them should be that simplified if the mod is installed correctly. The healing draught for example should say "A common, cheap concoction peddled by most apothecaries as a healing aid. Helps the drinker quickly knit small wounds and clear up bruises, but smells fermented..."
Ahhh finally, the Gear´n Item Overhaul from Steam! Although I long since have been using this Overhaul - Mod & had no issues finding it through said platform: It Was about time this one made a transition to Nexusmods. This modpack became a instant mandatory component for me, after I found out about it many years ago. It´s good to see that you are ( from my understanding ) still working on it TheGrumbleSkull and with that having said: Thank you for the hard work! =)) . . .ahhh curses! - I almost feel like going for one more trip to Orenia. =D

I mean yeah: A Health Potion is pretty much self-explanatory but it would make the overall Mod of yours much, MUCH more wholesome. I mean my last playthrough was maybe a year & a half ago and even then I got confused a fair amountof times what the actual usable item ( Healing Tonic/Healing Drought ) did or didn´t. - I´m just saying friend: This would be a huge plus from my viewpoint - Hence ,, More lorefriendly/Detailed item descriptions. ;)

It was one of my favorite PS2 titles back in the day, so it feels nice to know I'm helping it stay alive and interesting for modern players as well as old fans. To address your question about descriptions, there seems to be an internal text limit imposed on the associated tbl file and I'm definitely working on quite a few changes. Some current descriptions are very lengthy and redundant, so they can be shortened to give some detail room for the items like scrolls and potions you've mentioned. I'll look into freshening them up for the next update, which shouldn't be long. The only downside to using nexusmods is just that batch files need manual authentication by staff or the download is disabled to the public, so each update needs to be sizeable or noteworthy enough to send an email off to them. I'll definitely add description polish to the list of things to add to the next version alongside the heavy arms discrepancies.

I say Amen to that! Though not a perfect title, it´s ( even now ) one of my all time favorites RPG´s; only that I started right away with the PC-Counterpart. Arx Fatalis A.N.D. Summoner were my very first RPG´s back then after my family got their first PC; enjoyed every minute of´n with it! =)) Well ( . . . ) maybe except for the ,, Forest of Liangshan ,,. Even back then this place almost drove me bonkers, not because of the Poisonous-Air & through it the Perma-Life Drain, B.U.T. the range of enemy detection via party members, which oddly enough occurs only within this location: It goes completely off the rails! Have you noticed this too? Ahhh, but I´m drifting off. =D
Regarding the .tbl - Files: Ahhh, quite interesting. May I ask? Is this so called ,, Internal text limit ,, also tied to the gigantic amount of the already existing Vanilla Text-Lines that are beeing used for the many, MANY Conversations´n such one can & needs to take part in?? Because that actually would explain as well as make a lot of sense why some stuff is left untouched or rather said left off. - Pardon me if I´m thinking over my head here, I don´t know anything in regards to modding. =P
Authentication? Shouldn´t it be enough that a Mod reveives an Update through you, as the Modcreator? Does it also have to be baptized or something via Nexusmods? =D =D

In response to each topic in order; I've never noticed anything wrong with Liangshan's detection ranges or aggression levels. I can take a look at the oni and their statistics to see if their stats are messed up, but that is the only thing I can think of. What I assume is happening is that the party-members are moving within detection range of the oni and upon combat being initiated because you're already taking poison damage, the AI may just be immediately engaging the enemy. Dialogue is held inside a similar file yes, but not the one that dictates items for the next update. The file that needs updating handles things like item descriptions, requirements, value, stats, what animations they use, what enchantments they have and to what degree. Just things like that. The mod requires manual authentication by someone nexus-side because batch files can't be properly scanned and verified by their virus/malicious content scan.

Halloween is the target release, I'm sending a request to nexus support a day before in hopes of expediting it. I can however comment on the scrolls and potions. From what I can see, only two even have proper description fields to begin with. So I'll have to try seeing if adding them causes issues, and I've been focused more on the other descriptions and some of the stats like the endgame prices, which while I never touched people seem to be unhappy with.
It's looking good so far. I hope it's well recieved. Right now all the stats and known typos have been repaired, I've given descriptions to every potion, scroll as well as book, and now the last step is working alongside another modder to balance some of the aspects of the endgame economy. Even if that last bit isn't done by the planned release date (yet again, Halloween). All the other features will be.
Alright, thank´s for the intel. In regards to the planned changes with the part of the endgame-segment: That´s some really really good news! I always had the feeling, that the last bit was just rushed. So, just to be clear, the Mod ,, IS ,, updated, correct? Or did I missunderstood something?
I have the GOG version. It just installs from GOG, so I have no install file. Is there any way to apply this patch? Or do I just copy all its contents into the folder holding my summoner.exe?
you just need to have the archive extracted, there you´ll find a folder named ,, SMNRmod 4-40-24 ,,. Inside this one are a bunch of files which´ya only need to drag & drop to where your .exe is located AND finally run the the Install.bat. After that you´re good to go.
