I both love, [did a wonderful job, thank you], and hate, [because it auto ejects you (I'm using anti-gravity mod and it will spit me out of the sky), this mod... But it's still a great mod.
Hello, have you managed to input a timer interval so it backs up every so often automatically. Instead of having to manually do it every time i want to play, thanks ;)
I honestly have not, but it seems a timer is something that a lot of people want. So I will work on a version that includes this.
I assume you are wanting the program to run in the background so it backs it up automatically? I could possibly do something where it automatically detects when the game is launched and all saves are backed up.
Hi. The idea behind this is great however it has a major drawback. When I open it, the "save file location" and "backup folder" boxes are blank, even after I have used it a couple of times. This means I need to input this information every single time I use this. Which pretty much defeats the purpose entirely surely? I would just be as quick saving a shortcut on my desktop to both folders, and copy and pasting my saves, rendering this application totally pointless.
However, if the application saved the "save file location" etc, from the previous time that I used it, THEN this application would serve a purpose and be very useful indeed!
What version do you use...? Cause I implemented saving of the users input in version 1.2
Thanks, Zer0
Edit: Literally just tested, and it works with the most current version. It would work 1.2 onward. Please let me know what version you are using. Thanks.
I thought that I had the latest version, however I went ahead and downloaded the application again and tested it right away and sure enough, it saves the information just as you describe! So, I have no idea how I managed to download an earlier version yesterday, as I followed all the same steps, but whatever the reason, it's now working and I thank you!!
This would be much quicker and easier to manage backups if it used 7zip to archive them. Copying that many files is what slows it down, as well as taking up more space. I have 7400+ files in just one save, which is around 120mb. An archive trims that down to 1 file and 27mb. It takes less time to archive than to move. Could then have sequentially name each archive, so we can keep multiples.
You could just let it automatically load the last saved location, which would save a couple clicks.
1) Once again I would like to thank you for your feed back and suggestions. As for zipping the files instead of coping, I do want to look into doing this. I also agree that it will be faster and a better way of backing up files, especially subnautica's saves. The issue is, I will probably have to rewrite a lot of the code, which isn't a problem, I want to expand my knowledge and improve my application, but that will definitely take some time.
2) I definitely agree there was a better way of saving and loading the users inputted data without having them to click so much, I have simplified it, user has to do nothing other than input the locations the first time and it saves it, then loads it when the application is started.
3) Finally, your last suggestion, the timer. Would you mind expanding on what the purpose the timer would have? Sorry if that is a stupid question.
3) A timer would periodically create a new backup, so you can have a whole bunch of auto-saves. This one would probably require a limit on the amount, possibly letting the user choose how many backups to keep.
Honestly, I'm surprised the official game saves aren't packaged too. Reading and writing to a lot of files like that creates lag and increases disk access. The whole save system in this game needs an overhaul.

I'm not exactly sure I follow. Can you link me the mod you are using so I can see where it would interfere with my tool?
Kind Regards,

Finally, a timer feature would be really handy.

I just finished the recently updated the application, you can now zip your files!
My Steam/game folders aren't on my C: drive. Is it possible to have it remember the default location of my game files and where I want it to save?
