Yes, there is a way and that's for someone to make a mod similar to this one. I will if I get the time! Interesting request. But I'm not suprised, this game is full of little anoyance sounds that always find somebody to trigger.
Please can you make a mod that removes that weird electric crackling sound that "randomly" plays around you for the entire game? Some people say it's part of the start of a music track, others say it plays when you're near a wreck, others say it's related to the disease, others say it plays when you transition from biome to biome, etc.
I have no idea, and I can't find a recording of it. Searching for "subnautica weird sound" turns up lots of reddit threads about it.
But man is it annoying. I mean, it doesn't really bother me any more, because I've learned that noone actually knows what it is, so there's no reason to pay attention to it.
So that just means it's useless, and I see no reason why it shouldn't be removed.
I remember reading somewhere that this sound is actually one or more lava geyser that is hidden deeper down near where the audio plays. I usually hear this sound most often above the jellyshroom caves in the grassy plateaus. Considering the lava geysers that are down below in that spot, this information lines up. Additionally this would line up with the idea that there needs to be a way to find lava geysers, outside of visuals, as they're a good power source and often hidden.
That sound is the sound that a door makes after you cut it with a laser cutter (the metal falling to the floor and clanking around). When the game loads a door that has already been cut it plays that sound again for some reason (good coding). There's a mod that removes it for the original game. Still waiting for the below zero version. https://www.nexusmods.com/subnautica/mods/265
I finally found it! https://youtu.be/vOBUC4AW8y0?t=1143
The crackling sound starts roughly at 19:03 and lasts until roughly 19:10. Is ntropist correct that it is the sound of a previously cut-open door loading in? I'll try that mod in my next playthrough :-)
For me, the most annoying and ominous sound in the game is the background ambiance that plays whenever you enter into your seabase. I'm talking about this sound. I really hate it and just makes my time in my seabase really gloomy. Would it be possible for you to make a mod that removes that sound? Would really appreciate it!!

I've made a mod that does this. You can download it here:

Enjoy!
I thought some kind of electric monster was hidden in a cave every time I heard this. Thanks so much for making the game enjoyable again for me.
