Due to my lack of adequate hardware I really profit from this mod by balancing my "normal" building-lagg with the time I save up having the building time set to 0.1sec, but I recently noticed that such a short amount of time seems to lead to certain issues regarding the materials spent. E.g. observatories often only use 1 enameled glass instead of 2 and deconstructing glass compartments only gives me 1 glass back. I fooled a bit around contructing and deconstructing basic rooms and the amount of titanium spent/regained varied between 3 and 6.
I dont know if this issue is linked to the bad performance of the potato this poor game has to run on or if the game simply cant process that fast, but if anyone notices similiar issues, I would recommend acitvating progressive mode and having the minimum build time set to 1sec, at least for me this worked.
This is very interesting! It was quite some time, since I tested it.. But if I recall correctly, I did test it and did not notice such behaviour. It could actually be related to the performance. Maybe try a little bit higher value.
My only grief is that the modules which use few materials are now building unreasonably quick. Would it be possible to add a minimum building time, like you did in better fast craft?
This is something I already considered during implementation. It would be nicer to have a kind of Logistic Function (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Logistic_function). However, due to the way it was implemented (programming reasons) this is easier said than done :( It is possible, but needs some real consideration. Currently there are no plans to change that, but I may do it in the future.
I will answer to this post, if I found/ implemented a solution.

The amount of time needed to create a plasteel ingot, going through creating the normal ingot first, is one example of how excessively slow the fabricator can be.

Maybe it is possible to create a mod similar to this one which reduces the crafting time for each item. But if i recall correctly, every item has its own crafting time, but dont count me on that. If I will find some I will maybe look into it and if it is as quick as this one, create a mod.
But it is not planned to this point.
Edit: I just looked into the code of FastCraft, thankfully he uploaded it, and yes, I was right. Every item has its own crafting time. Although this is not perfect, go check it out. I will maybe do a better version than his :)

It is possible, but needs some real consideration.
Currently there are no plans to change that, but I may do it in the future.
