      Uraninite or "pitchblende" is uranium oxide, not uranium. Additionally, it's often quite contaminated with decay products. So no, not "uranium, just with a different name".

   I already see Uranium as a resource in some biomes, drillable with FCS DeepDriller - I don't know if this has a "stockish" reason, because the FCS DeepDriller only makes drillabe what's already there or if any other mod is the reason, like for example Replenish ReactorRods.
