7z is a 7-zip file. It's a form of compressed file, like a RAR or ZIP. You should be able to open it with most compression tools, though I don't believe the built-in Windows unzipper recognizes it yet.
One of those mods that merely fixes an inexplicable mistake on the devs' part. Sometimes the most vital of mods. Can't believe I never saw this before.
"Radio Message received." "Okay, play it for me." "I'm sorry, but I can't do that." "But you've obviously received the message, otherwise you wouldn't have known to tell me!" "Alterra Regulations." "...the same regulations that swapped out the gravity engines in the Glider, Seamoth, Cyclops designs for propeller blades?" "..."
I hated this part of the game. So annoying to get a message, rush back to the shallows to read the message, and then have to go all the way back to where I started because it turns out the lifepod was just over the next hill.
that's called exploration and advancing the story. the story doesn't advance unless you click on the radio which is perfect for when you wanna do everything possible on your own without the game progressing further than you're currently ready for or even want to go. going back and forth is part of the game since you go back and forth all the time with everything to get resources, which is the whole point of exploring with limited storage. if going back and forth bothers you so much then you might be playing the wrong kinda game. personally i won't use this mod because i like to control advancing the story, but for someone in your position the perfect mod would be to receive all messages at once since all lifepods were ejected from the Aurora at the same time, so having them flood your radio would be a realistic approach and would allow you to skip all the back and forth you so dislike. here's such mod:
Ok, the issue seems to be with the check to see if the radio is repaired. I will look into this and try to come up with a solution, but it will probably be a few days before I have a chance. In the meantime, I have uploaded the old 1.0 version, which doesn't check if the radio is repaired. I know it's not ideal, but you can switch to the old 1.0 version after you have repaired the radio and you will not have to use the radio manually after loading.
Not the OP, but I just used the most recent update.Testing was done in a new game, right before playing the first radio signal. It played automatically during the loading screen.
The second one then played automatically without me having to bring up the PDA.
You don't have to use the PDA to play the radio signals, if that's what you mean? They should play automatically. They just shouldn't play if you haven't repaired the radio yet. Depending on how long your game takes to load, they may play during a loading screen, there's nothing I can really do about that. The game loads them before it finishes loading everything else. I timed the delay so it's long enough that they never play during my load screens.
OH!I honestly completely misunderstood then. :)For some reason, I thought you'd have to open the PDA to access the Radio. This is despite me supposedly 'reading' the description. Heh.
Honestly, that's even better.Like dodging a Leviathan while the radio is playing better.
If enough people are finding that the radio messages frequently play while the game is loading (as per Keradon's comment), I can make an alternative version that increases the delay before a message plays. Please reply with how many extra seconds you would like and I will try to find a good alternative. This delay will also apply in between messages.
I don't even have Subnautica installed right now (had to do a clean Windows install to fix update issue) so this won't happen immediately, please be patient.
It shouldn't, it should just bypass the click. What happened, did you get the Sunbeam msgs all at once? And when did this happen (the day will be in your PDA log)? The more info I have the easier it is for me to test and find out what's going on.
OK, I just tested playing all the way through the Sunbeam event chain with just this mod installed and everything played as per vanilla game. I am going to need more info to help you.
Well, the Sunbeam event chain automatically starts in Subnautica after 40 minutes in-game. You can "delay" it by either not repairing the radio or by not clicking on the radio to play the messages. Regardless, the radio messages queue up after they are triggered, waiting for you to play them. PDA Radio bypasses having to click on the radio for a message to play, so it's going to play a message as soon as the message arrives or if the message has already been triggered and queued up. If you are mid-end game, the 40 minute counter would have well and truly triggered.
And Radio Distress Signals won't do anything at all if you install it after repairing your radio.
Well the thing is, if you don't use the radio then the sunbeam event never starts regardless of the amount of time spent in game. Which is why I was asking if there could be a version that didn't automatically start that event, but I can see now that's against the intent of the mod so nevermind.
