It's great. Could use a bit of improvement towards the end where it merges with the ILZ itself - it comes to an abrupt end with a right-angle cut in the terrain which makes maneuvering a large sub (i.e., Cyclops or other large mod sub) require a sudden course change.
I installed this today and just finished exploring. There's a couple of quirks, like suddenly there is a huge rock textured cube protruding in the lost river close to one of the entrances. I assume this is because this is early release content and was actually in the game when the lost river wasn't finalized yet, so the geometry overlaps somewhat. There's also terrain under the Aurora at the front that is correctly textured, but very clearly cut off where it wasn't supposed to be. There's a few more things that look like perfect cubes and are a bit out of place. There's also only a couple of different textures on everything.
I was expecting a relatively small entranceway, but it's actually a large cave system with a few different paths that reconverge.
There is absolutely no life there, not a single fish or plant spotted. And because of that, it is also incredibly dark. Any lights you have are not very helpful because the cave is so big that most of the time it doesn't hit a wall, so it's hard to navigate without the sonar.
I found the entrance very easily by exploring the front of the aurora. The entrance in the inactive lava zone is right by one of the other two entrances. A hole appears that wasn't there before near some lavafalls.
After I explored it the regular way, I also explored it after draining the water with the Sea Level mod. Although it is very unfinished, clearly quite a bit of work was put in to design the geometry. Makes me wonder why it was cut from the game...
If you're one of those people like me who have done everything there is to do in the game and then some, but are still looking for reasons to come back to it, I'd say it's worth checking out. Would not recommend for new players as it breaks immersion quite a bit.
I understand that it feels empty, but I wanted to recreate the early access atmosphere as much as possible. But since more than one person has commented to me about it, I will consider adding stuff down there. As for the geometry glitches, where is the cube protruding? Could you send an image along with coordinates?
Maybe mean the entrance in the Bulb Zone. There was an unnatural rectangular terrain overhanging a little after we entered. Not so much that it was impossible to pass through with a Cyclops, but it bothered me a little.
Can you also readd to the old landscape near the Mountain Island? In the old builds of the game (before the Quarantine Enforcement Platform), there were single outgrowths near the island, similar to columns.
Oh wow, that IS a big patch. Much larger than my old 6.4Mb patch file. Will be nice to see what all you've done as soon as you get it uploaded (or put up on a mirror site).
