Very good this mod, I loved the challenge. But it didn't deactivate after the aurora core repair. It went on the same way, it didn't clear the air. I had to run back to seamoth! ahUHAuHAuHA I thought it was a conflict with other mods, but I uninstalled them all, left only this one and even then it didn't work. Will it conflict with the August 5 micro update?

It takes about 3 to 4 days to dissipate

Would be interested in seeing the radiation actually lower creature count in radiated area as proof that it is deadly to them as well as you. Also that makes it harder to survive as you have to look harder for food and bladderfish

For those considering adding this mod. I just completed it in a heavy modded playthrough. No spoilers here just some information for some questions the MA probably should have added to the description (recommended MA if you see this) and has been asked here.

This mod is very good. If you need an early game challenge to spice things up, this is a great option. I've read several posts here from other players that the negative effects weren't negated after they repaired the drive core.

Based on having just completed the mod, once you repair the drive cores and once the radiation has had time to dissipate all of the negative effects of the radiation, implemented by this mod, WILL STOP. I think some people may have thought that the negative effects would stop immediately after completing the repair of the drive cores but that is NOT the case. It takes 3-4 days in game for the radiation already present to dissipate naturally. You will notice as you play that as the radiation dissipates you will have more freedom to move around without the negative effects in place e.g. you can operate at increasingly more shallow depths. You will not however be able to breath the open air till the effects have dissipated completely.

This might have been obvious to some given the radiation takes time to dissipate in the vanilla game as well but maybe not others.

This means the mod works as intended however, you need to be able to get on the Aurora, complete the repair, and leave the Aurora without breathing the open air. Keep in mind the floating air pump does not work near the Aurora. That includes after you've repaired the drive cores, again, till the radiation has dissipated.

One other caution: In addition to this mod, I added a randomizer and more leviathan spawns to up the ante. Using the randomizer, I opted to randomize fragment locations. Fragments are the pieces of gear scattered about that you scan in order to build new things. The radiation mod effectively limits, in its own way, where you can search for fragments and how deep. Depending on the randomization you get its absolutely not impossible to pair the two together but it might be infinitely harder if you can't find the fragments you need for whatever strategy you choose to repair the cores.

shouldn't power drain faster/more when using the radiation challenge regardless where you are?

The description of the mod says the repaired Lifepod 5 is supposed to protect you from radiation, but mine doesn't. What's wrong?

sorry that this is two years late, however, that is probably a config option that has not been enabled at the time of you posting that

This mod (in combination with others) really helps me getting a extreme difficulty set up for the game which is great. However I noticed that the explosion of the Aurora can happen at different times into the game, which is problematic, because the difficulty heavily then depends on how early this happens. I assume that it depends on how deep you dive! ~100m might be the border which causes the messages about a possible explosion and finally the explosion itself to happen.

It would be great to have the explosion event at a fixed (or even editable in config/settings) time since the game started.

Does anyone know what triggers the explosion events?

Edit: Some testing and it seems it is not depended on diving depth. I got seemingly random times from up to 1h 25 min down to just 50 min into the game.

"explosionDepth": "30", - do not exceed this value at the moment of the explosion of the aurora (otherwise death)
ok I understand that less depth than the one marked the explosion kills you, but more depth? I had a game marked 100m deep and it was 122m and I was dead ... any advice?

"radiativeDepth": "150", - the depth of the radiation effect on the entire map
"explosionDepth": "30", - do not exceed this value at the moment of the explosion of the aurora (otherwise death)
"radiativePowerConsumptionMultiplier": "5", is a multiplier of the price in energy during production and construction (also speeds up battery charging). For example: 5x5 = 25 for 1 item
"radiativePowerAddMultiplier": "0.2", - the strength of the radiation ..
"disableFabricatorFood": true, - disallow food production in the escape pod after the explosion (food from mods is still available)
"preventPreRadiativeFoodPickup": false, - you can prevent the collection of seeds before the explosion of the auroray
"preventRadiativeFoodPickup": true, - ou can prevent the collection of seeds after the explosion of the aurora (Propulsion cannon -> throw the plant into the water and collect the seeds)
"poisonedAir": true, - Floating Air Pump will not work (otherwise you can get air anywhere* for the price of two inventory slots)
"radiationWarning": true - just a radiation message to the depth of "radiativeDepth"

I wonder why do I need to use up more energy before the Aurora blows up... or when I'm under radiation depth...
...well, it certainly makes things more interesting (like priority of first crafts on a new game), but still wonder why...

Depends which version you downloaded. Because one does the power drain all the time.
