Welcome to my very first Subnautica mod... two years in the making. 



This mod adds two modification station upgrades for the Laser Cutter:

Mk2, which enables it to damage things and cook fish at a maximum range of 3.5 meters. Think of it as a battery-powered long-range heatblade with more damage. Of course, it also cuts metal doors slightly faster. 

and

Mk3, which requires you to upgrade to Mk2 first, and adds more damage, range, and cutting speed to your Laser Cutter, along with the ability to drill drillables without the aid of a vehicle. It takes a couple more seconds than the vehicle-mounted drill.

For now, they look identical to one another, with the exception that the Mk2 emits red light on the impact point when it hits something, while the Mk3 emits blue light.

Useful for people doing no-vehicle runs, or if you forget to equip a drill to your vehicle for some reason, or maybe once modders figure out autonomous vehicles, you can set your self-driving exosuit to drill at something and then help it out with the Mk3 to drill at 1.5x the speed. It also offers an alternative to those "laser cutter cuts faster" mods that makes the faster cutting feel a little more like an earned upgrade. 

At the moment, you cannot adjust damage, range, or other stats to your liking. I will add such a feature though, eventually, as some Alpha testers have requested it in the past (coding in sliders just looks so boring). Eventually.

In the future I hope I can extend the Laser Cutter's functionality to cut up environmental stuff and maybe make scrap metal out of the environmental metal lying around. Maybe even make your own openings in wrecks and stuff. I'd also like to make it so that you can leave marks on the environment, letting players draw tasteful things on caves and such, like their names or cute animals. I was told this is difficult to achieve. I still want it. 

Current issues:

  • Harvesting plants like the Creepvine with it is a bit bugged (The plant disappears before you can receive all the pickups).
  • The sparks particle effect that shows up when you cut doors with the laser still shows up at the nozzle of the cutter even with the upgraded range. 
  • No actual visible laser beam for now (I know, I know).
