I got the notify when I was at least 200m away, and I didn't initially know about it. So, I searched inch by inch within a 50m range until I started pondering about the origins of the universe, the meaning of life, and other deep questions XDD, which made me quite distressed. The reason I could spot this issue was because I used the mod "Scannable Time Capsules (Bepinex)" today. When I received the notify, I immediately stopped moving, then activated the scan on the map (a feature of another mod). That's when I realized the capsule was far away from me, even more than 200m. So, I mean is, could we add a distance setting or some other feature to improve this issue? Without the reminder from this mod, my 100000-degree nearsighted eyes might miss every single Time Capsule. Because even the Scannable Time Capsules (Bepinex) can't locate Time Capsules that haven't been loaded by players, it can only find the ones in front of the player. This is a design flaw of the ScannerRoom itself, unrelated to any mod.
After repeated testing, I found that the distance at each notification is always different, which I think is related to how the game loads. If possible, I'd like the notification to indicate the direction of the Time Capsule relative to the player—like southeast, northeast, southwest, and so on. If not possible, that's okay too. Your mod works great; it's just that I'm not very good at treasure hunting and need more external assistance.
Hi, sorry for late reply. You are absolutely right, each time the distance is little different. I created the mod in unmodified game and every time there was notification I was in fooking distance from the capsule. So I thought that 50m is fine, since that was what original mod said. But now after a year and new overkill PC I also noticed that the notification pops up even when capsule is spawned 350m far. But to be honest, I messed with draw distance a bit to combat ugly pop-ins, I attribute it to that. Anyway, I changed the description a little to be less misleading. But I don't think I'll be able to code some distance or direction into the pop-up notification. I think it is possible thou, since Better Scanner Blips can show distance.
I think it's a skill issue but I always seem to have notifications here and there but I never see any Time capsules anywhere... Does it only notify you when you go near the 50 m radius or is it 50 m in front of you?
Every time the game feels like it, it spawns the time capsule. Usually there is 40 per game and each biome has certain chance of spawning one. More you explore, more will spawn. The way how the mod work is that each time the game actually spawns new Time Capsule, instead of just spawning is, it'll also give you this notification. The game considers the area as found in the certain sphere around the player, I think it's roughly 50m. Of course you can see much further, but certain things (like time capsules) spawns in this distance.
So in short, when you get the notification, there is a Time Capsule at the edge of half-sphere in the direction you are currently traveling.
Hi, I don't think it'll work with Legacy, since I wrote the code for 2.0. But there already is the same mod for Legacy by "dibblebill": https://modslab.net/en/subnautica/mods/s2aNDnRkQY/ I made this, since the old mod was deleted from Nexus.
