Many friends in here were asking me to make video tutorial how to mod custom character for Stray (or the other games that based on UE4/UE5). I have decide to make a complete and detail tutorial how to do that in a tutorial series. So here the first video tutorial (I've cheat my working office hours to made this! I'm sorry bos... I knew that you are playing in here too. LOL!) :
Please be patient for the next parts, since I cannot do that in full-time as I'm still busy to struggle with my real-life daily jobs.
#update 07262022 : - As many friends requested, I've added Garfield's voice over lazy meow (LOL!) as optional to miscellaneous files section. If you want to try it, just extract and put this Hk_project-WindowsNoEditor_GarfieldVoiceOverLazzyMeow.pak into the same folder location as my Garfield Character mod file resides (e.g C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Stray\Hk_project\Content\Paks). I hope you will like it.
#update 07272022 : - I've add Garfield's adult voice over with full of funny adult talks, fart sound and damn things as optional to miscellaneous files section (please, stay-away from this, if you are have under-age kids).
#update 07282022 : - new version 1.02 is available now. This version now using slightly better textures.
#update 07302022 : - new version 1.03 is available now. This version added mustache for more funny facial expression.
#update 09042022 : - new version 1.04 is available now. This version removed cheat mode, now Zurks will attacking you again.
Q&A : - Q : why you name this as "Cartoon Edition" ? - A: actually I was also make a "the movie edition" with more significant crazy Garfield realistic and detail character. BUT it will demand very-high a GPU hardware spec (as it has very higher number of polygons, higher diffuse texture, higher normal maps texture, etc.). Unreal Engine is easy to handle it, but I believe not every GPU can run it (especially some friends with 4K screen and force RTX ON). And the most difficult thing is the painting vertex weight for naughty Garfield mimic; it's consume time so much. Also I will need a license of GFur Pro (an UE paid plugin) to cooked basic spline for fur mod inside Unreal (I'm still don't have a legal license for it). For temporary, let me give you a teaser the preview of this version fur textures mod (this part of his tail fur texture) : - basic mesh and full body fur base mapping: GFur basic fur spline not bad, isn't it? =)) Yeah, with this crazy detail of the fur texture and mapping... maybe I will release it after Ada Lovelace GPU already launched! =))
for temporary, let's we just upgrade this cartoon edition gradually. to make more better and better. # testing 31072022 Just for fun =)) Actually this was just a fur simulation for my next "Garfield the movie edition mod" for Stray with Unreal Engine. But I was forget to put the main body mesh in pack file. And here we go..... Stray Hollow Cat Mod... LOL! =))
Hi, I've been enjoying playing with this mod so much! Thanks so much for sharing it.
I don't know if anyone else has encountered this problem, but the zurks won't attack me when I'm playing as Garfield. Any idea as to why that could be?
Can you tell me with which program you open the PAK files to edit them? I have tried several PAK programs but none of them could open the PAK archive from Stray. Unfortunately there is no standard for PAK files.
I already made video tutorials for that (that topic was on part #2), please open up the video that in a sticky above. And more parts of tutorial will coming up so stay tuned ;)
That's a nice idea. I will make a kitten model with Mile Morales suit. LOL! =)) The rough concept kinda like this: I've even can make Iron Spider suit for this cat. LOL! =))
Btw, this mod wasn't the first custom model mod for Stray. Since actually I was made this Happy Puppy mod (https://www.nexusmods.com/stray/mods/57) before this Garfield mod.
Can you make a mod with this caracal? references: https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/floppapedia-revamped/images/3/3d/Assa.jpeg/revision/latest/top-crop/width/360/height/360?cb=20210317171502
