What is this mod?

This mod allows the player to drink gas from fuel cans and experience realistic consequences.

Detailed overview

Using a held jerry can with >=5% fuel will consume fuel. Drinking gas by itself gives 4 water and 14 hunger.

This mod features 7 new player status effects:

Relaxed:
Positive effect: regenerates extra health (20hp/h).
Negative effect: slowly decreases water and hunger.
Lasts 3 hours.

Intoxicated:
Positive effect: will slow down hunger.
Negative effect: decreases water at a moderate speed.
Lasts 5 hours.

Wasted:
Positive effect: moderate increases all hunting and harvesting damage by 1.4-1.5x.
Negative effect: decreases water at a high speed, drains health very slowly, makes the player more hesitant to craft.
Lasts 8 hours.

Alcohol overdose:
Positive effect: massive increase to hunting and harvesting damage. (2x and 2.5x)
Negative effect: drains health (up to 300) and water at a moderate speed. Low chance of hallucinations. Makes the player barely able to craft anything.
Lasts 8 hours.

Hangover:
Given after the player waits out intoxication.
Negative effect: drains water.
Lasts 4.5 hours.

Heavy Hangover:
Given after the player waits out being wasted.
Negative effect: quickly drains water, slowly drains hunger.
Lasts 9 hours.

Overdose recovery:
Given after the player waits out alcohol overdose.
Negative effect: extreme water drain, high food drain.
Lasts 12 hours.

Visual effects:
As the player drinks more fuel, their view becomes more and more obstructed, to the point of not seeing anything for short periods of time.

Sound effects:
The player will laugh, burp, hic and do other noises depending on their drunk level. Unfortunately, the female survivor's sound effect selection is lesser than that of the male's.

Hallucinations:
Once the player overdoses, hallucinations may start to occur, both visual and auditory. They have a very low chance of happening and may seem a bit too real...

Cold and Wet Mod compatibility:
If you are using Hantacore's Cold and Wet mod (https://www.nexusmods.com/strandeddeep/mods/172), you can spice up your experience! Drinking gas will increase your body temperature and tiredness. Make sure you use the +1.0.1 version or it will not work.

Alcohol tolerance and intolerance:
The player starts with a random tolerance to alcohol, it may be either negative or positive. The more you drink, the higher the tolerance, to a certain extent. Wait a bit too much in-between drinks or drink way, way too much and you will slowly start losing tolerance. The higher the tolerance, the more you can drink before you get certain player effects.

Empty stomach:
If you decide to drink on a half empty stomach, you will get drunk faster. If you decide to drink on a completely empty stomach, you will get drunk even faster.

Multiplayer has not been tested at all.

Instructions

To install the mod you must have Unity Mod Manager (https://www.nexusmods.com/site/mods/21/). Install the mod same way you install any other UMM mod. If you're having trouble, here's a tutorial by Speedy: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dB74FWu-pDw

If you are using Hantacore's Cold and Wet mod (highly recommended for full experience) make sure to enable the compatibility tick!

The mod will break if you enable Cold and Wet mod compatibility without having +1.0.1 version of his mod or don't have it installed at all. Make sure you have the latest version!!!

- Mod has been reworked from ground up to be faster, better, stronger:
- Drinking is way faster and more consistent. No more 'press g to drink', just click the primary use button when holding a gas can.
- Drinking has an animation.
- Changed how buffs work (no more relying on skill levels)
- Buffed overdose significantly (2x stamina, flat 2x damage multiplier to all damage, 2.5x to harvesting damage)
- Buffed being wasted a bit (1.4x damage multiplier to all damage, 1.5x to harvesting damage).
- Changed how crafting works when wasted or overdosing. You can still craft at any stage, but it will be increasingly harder to convince the player to do so.
- Drunk effects were rebalanced a bit.
- Alcohol tolerance system was reworked.
- Reworked visual hallucinations to be way more consistent and fun.
- Changed some of the drunk dialogue.
- Saving and loading system is better, no more relying on the previous .config files.
- Fixed wavutility spam in logs.
- Got rid of instances which broke the current game session by vomiting more than once at the same time.
- Fixed one of the laughing soundtracks cutting off.

- Fixed for 1.0.31 version.

Known issues:
- When the player starts hallucinating or blinking, the visual effects can completely block the main menu. For now the solution is to just wait it out.
- If you're playing, quit to menu and rejoin any save file, you will not experience ANY visual effects. If you want to experience the mod fully, please reload the whole game. I will try to fix this as soon I can.
