Did Update 35 nerf this? It doesn't seem to be working anymore. Still getting the same amount of Freaks spawning (on Lethal mode).

(Per 2023.10.21 this is how you edit which freaks spawn.)

    • First you need to download both this mod and KaiHelios' Asset Editor (look it up, it should be a Github repo).
    • Extract both wherever you want
    • Open the Asset Editor set the drop down in the top right to "5.00". Restart the editor.
    • Use Functions > Extract Pak File and open 000-NAFIntegrated_P.pak (this mod). Choose your extract location.
    • Use File > Open and navigate to where you extracted the .pak file. Go down the folder list (should be StateOfDecay2\Content\TNRUConsolidatedMods\SpawnIntegrated\NoAmbientFreaks) and open NAFSettingsHolder.uasset.
    • Expand Code Blocks. Select Block 25
    • Edit the Value1 column values to the corresponding freaks you wanna keep or get rid of. (0 to keep, 1 to remove)
    • File > Save.
    • Functions > Package Folder. Navigate to the top of the folders (should be StateOfDecay2) and Select Folder.

Now you have a functioning .pak to add using the Mod Manager.
Thanks to ZOD and Helios for the discord help and Neru for making the mod itself.

Works great! Edited the asset file to keep all freaks but Juggs, and after a good 8hrs of play, I've only encountered 3 or 4 Juggs out in the wild and a handful tied to specific missions. I like the feeling of the slight possibility of encountering one still, without being overwhelmed on Lethal and having exploration restricted.
Which to me is perfect, call me a wimp, but the number of Juggs on Lethal was just far too frustrating for me. I either ran to conserve my ammo/resources, or spent a bunch of fuel w/my vehicle killing them in reverse.

    Thanks man!

Any chance you could detail what you did (if you still remember)? I've been looking at the file in the asset editor and am just confused as hell... T---T

Aight I got help from the Discord. We chilling.

Can you make it so you remove onky Jugg?

You can edit the mod yourself with the instructions in the description tab to remove only juggs.
Admittedly I am currently attempting to do so and am absolutely lost in the asset editior haha...

Throwing together a quick tutorial from the help I got in discord.

Does this not work anymore or did I miss something? Tried both existing & new community, immediately about 5-6 freaks spawned around the base :/

Edit: Pushed this mod to the top of loading order and now it seems to be working. Not sure why it mattered since I only use a couple other mods that don't do much, especially not related to freaks or spawn tables.

When I navigate to Block 16,  there is no  bRemove###  boolean anywhere .  How can I edit it to keep Bloaters for example,  because there is not even a bRemoveBloaters that I can edit.

u can only look at assets with the mod manager. is the asset editor a separate program? not listed on nexus.

    edit:
-asset manager is a separate prog available on github
-managed to use assetM to extract the NAFSettingsHolder.uasset
-the advanced instructions seem confusing to me but i made some changes

currently stuck on how do i get the new file back into the pak/mod

I haven't noticed a reduction in freak spawn frequency. Neither on normal nor Dread difficulty levels, both on fresh saves.

Definitely reduces spawns but they will spawn sometimes. Think some spawns are tied to certain parts of the map that aren't part of any quest.

Will try on fresh save for more testing but seems to work most of the time on an old save.

Can confirm it happens on fresh saves as well. Still worth the download for the reduced spawns. Good job.
