I was looking to do an actual "Day One" playthrough. Low zombie population, bumper-to-bumper traffic, high amount of humans, getting into shoot outs with fellow looters and community survivors, relying more on trade and relationships, limited resources, hostile humans fortifying themselves in the best resource locations (ammo shops, stores, police stations, pharmacies, etc), more zombies added and less humans as the days pass by.
I said to myself "Self, which mods can get this accomplished?" Then I thought "Oh yeeeeah Chika's mod can probably simulate most of this." My dreams were crush quickly afterwards when I couldn't get all this accomplished. Then I reminded myself "Oh yeeeeah. Modders always keep the best stuff to themselves." So Chika where's the "Day One" mod at and why are you still holding it out on us? Phone check, homie.
The "Day One" mod is in my vault and I'm still holding it out because if I release it then someone will want a "Day Two" mod...
Which bits of your idea couldn't you do? Hostile humans I don't think is possible, traffic jams might be possible with a LOT of trial an error & there isn't a way to taper resources without manually swapping files each time. Everything else should be doable.
The hostile NPCs were sort of key ingredient. Without them I'd just be frolicking through the city. After looking through the file structure and NPC.xml I realized there was no hostile setting. I even tried a new PT to see if the Wilkersons had some hidden hostile behavior if I made them mad enough. Nope. I think I had a legit Chris Farley outburst. Thought crossed my mind to swap out some zombie for character models but zombies can't shoot. *sigh* Oh well.
Since the official forums got closed down most of the guides were lost however some people put these together on a fan run site: Tools Some tips I think all of my mods have the source files included so you can just compare my files against the originals.
No, you need to go on my profile and look for the Trade Mod from 2014. I'm not sure if it's packaged for Story mode so you may need to manually change the 'class3.1' folder to 'class3'.
Thanks for this. Followed your advice, started a new game but could not see trade post upgrade as an option on the Library. Can I check - do you need to do the research tasks before the trade option appears?
You don't need to research anything to unlock it. If you started a new game and it's not appearing then it's probably not installed correctly. Make sure you have facilities.win.bmd & rtsevents.win.bmd in your class3>rts folder.
I've put in the description that it may require a new game because a user reported issues but during testing it was fine for me. So it may or may not require a new game, always backup any important saves if you're not sure.
This one can't be used with 'CBTO' as it's the YOSE version and CBTO was for the original game. Basically if you have YOSE you can use this mod but shouldn't use CBTO, if you have the original you can use CBTO but will need to use the original version trade mod here > Trade Mod (FOTM). It's exactly the same except the original uses Upgrade Built In Facilities as the base file.
At the bottom of the description of this mod there is a list of my mods with links which shows what mods are YOSE and what are original.

SOD2 modding is unknown right now, the community is confident that we won't get tools so it's just a case of wait-and-see. I'm pretty handy with Unreal Engine which SOD2 is built on so it'd be nice to have tools or at least load the assets into the engine manually.

(I added 2 new mods & 1 or both made me crash after 5 min. I think it was the other 1 but thought i'd ask.)
