    Damn, is bvan still around? what about shadohz, he clearly gets it...

    the idles and wander go wonky, as does the weapon reload and cars thing  (hich most will notice at least once)

    but the actual triggers are seemingly random?

    one npc may follow you and do what they're supposed to, melee or ranged or both, guard or follow, etc.

    but that same npc might trigger idle indefinitely if you dare to be doing something else when they need to activate...

    then they just idle... get attacked, might shoot or smack back, might not, but you can push them around, even push a enclave resident out of their house to act as a zed decoy; they won't fight, won't move, won't do... well, anything.

    I'd love to bother debugging it, but I'm getting used to save cheating this game, and will just reload last save when it goes wonky.

    It feels really great that people like you are still making and upgrading the existing mods of this game to make this game better.


    I wish more people like you do the same and make this type of Quality of Life mods for this game rather than make cosmetics mods for the State of Decay 2.....

    Sounds like a good mod. Is there an original SOD version available or something else like? I couldn't find a good AI improvement mod elsewhere on the internet.

      Bugs and improvements:
      1. "Wander" should be removed. It causes too many problems.

      2. Line of sight needs a time-out. Problem: NPC will stand still endlessly if waiting to get a shot at a target. A timer should be used to disable their use of a gun every few seconds to stop this behavior.

      3. NPCs shouldn't use guns while in interior. Problem: The majority of interior is too small for gunplay and in most cases the PC and NPCs will be engaging in melee.

      4. "Barricade" is useful but needs to be tweaked. Problem: 1) While the PC is engaged in melee the NPC ignores that he/she needs help and continues walling off the interior. 2) The NPC can't tell the difference between an interior that needs boarding up and one that doesn't. This causes the NPC to stand still outside a building because of the failed detection (also makes barricade rather useless and cumbersome in Lifeline because of th e number of non-barricade buildings).

      5. Line-of-sight adjustment needs to be more fluid. The NPCs look rather silly, especially in a group, jumping around like rabbits every second over a small area.

      6. The backup NPCs need to be exclude, if possible. The Backup (radio call) NPCs don't have melee weapons so become useless when the player has melee-only enabled.

      7. Barricade is good, "gather" would be better. Barricade is good for keeping your NPCs out of the way. However adding "gather" more useful for your follower(s) to loot as you're looting.

      Nope. I just ended up tweaking the file using this and another shooting mod to get the results I wanted. I have it archived but I'm pretty sure I had it working in original and YOSE. It was still rather clunky. I meant to ask author of QMJS if he'd been willing to release a more fleshed out version but I guess I never got around to asking.

    One bug I've noticed, if the NPC is reloading as he enters a vehicle, he will get stuck, just standing and floating outside of the vehicle. It looks pretty silly, but if you're on a mission, you'll have to reload a save to correct it. If you're not in a mission switching to the NPC or just leaving the area for a while seems to fix it. On an unrelated note, any possibility we can get a version that doesn't hide the gun and stance part of the hud when you don't have a follower?

      I also experienced this numerous times. It's almost guaranteed to happen at the beginning of "Sweet Ride" mission. I found commenting out the "B33VA_Reload check" section in ul_ally_basebehavior.lua and the first two "entity:Reload();" in ul_ally_followtargetentity.lua fixed it.
      Less reloading = less likely to bug out. Great mod!

    It is a great mod. I have equipped all my key team members with gernade launcher along with pistol, rifle and gernade launcher. Is it possible to assign keys to let them switch to gernade launcher when facing juggernaut or zombie horde and rifle to kill zombie from large distance and pistol when zombies close in.

    I can't get Sam to enter a car during the mission to get meds from the vets. She just stands near it (outside, beside my driver side door) and refuses to get in. She just stands there, hand to her brow, looking for enemies. I've even driven up to the church with her sprinting alongside and parked-up, but it won't do anything. So I can't advance any quests.

    Latest version and all that, blah blah.

    EDIT: I started a new game, with an overhaul mod added (QMJS Extended Functions, which had overwritten a few files from other mods) and that has appeared to fix the issue. The Y, U and I functions still work as normal and Sam got into the vehicle straight away.

    Problem solved, it seems.

    A little thank you for creating the mod too. It's great having control over how followers act. Putting the Home Base on "balls out" is very fun with additional hordes.

      QMJS doesn't actually fix the problem. They don't share similar files. The "wander" mechanic has to be commented out or set to 0 (zero). You just happen to replay the mission and she didn't go into idle mode (usually while you're running to get the car while she's still talking to Alan).

    First of all: great mod! One question: is there a way to change keys? I usually play this game with a XONE controller, is there a way to bind Y,U,I and O keys to gamepad combos?
