Oh God, it feels so good to finally be able to play this mod after all these years. I just got Battlefront II yesterday for PC, and this is one of the first mods I downloaded.
The N-1 Starfighter in this game is BEAUTIFUL. Why DICE never bothered to add it to the starfighter modes as a Hero Ship, I will never understand... they could've just updated the abilities, changed the dialogue to fit with the Republic/Rebels/Resistance for each respective era, and called it. But they didn't even do that. Playing on Xbox, I felt like I was cheated out of using the N-1 Starfighter all these years. Now I just need to find a mod that allows me to play Starfighter Assault in Arcade, and I'll be good to go.
Just a few questions:
1. Will this mod get me banned from playing multiplayer in modes that DO NOT feature starfighters, like Co-op? That's pretty much the only mode I play online, aside from Starfighter Assault.
2. Will this mod get me banned even if I don't use it while it is installed? I'm using the version that replaces Rey's Millennium Falcon, which I NEVER use in multiplayer anyway. Could I avoid getting banned just by NOT picking that ship in online matches?
Finally! Thank you so much for this! Feels like when Lucasarts patched the N-1 into Rogue Squadron all over again ;-)
Now, for the big question. Would you be willing to make the N-1 available in the rest of the Space Maps (Endor, D'Qar, Fondor, Unknown Regions) via modular/separate, similar mods? Thanks again!
I assume replacing a hero ship is out of the question, right? If only for the sake of not having to give up each faction's fighter. Since we already have three Falcons it would be great if Rey's could be replaced by the N-1. Just throwing suggestions out there, not requesting anything.
Did some quick testing. While the first iteration, ARC-170 to N1, works superbly, the second one, T-65 X-Wing to N1 Starfigter crashes the game during loading. It never reaches the main menu, and the game EXE does not remain active in Task Manager. Happens even after removing ModData folder and relaunching. Could be an incompatibility with one of my other mods? Will try to load it alone and get back. But, at least in theory, if ARC-170 to N1 works with the other mods, shouldn't T-65 X-Wing to N1 also work, with the exact same mod combo? Any ideas?
Tested again, this time with just T-65 X-Wing to N1 Starfigter loaded, using FMM 1.0.5.6. The mod crashes the game during loading, as described. On the other hand, ARC-170 to N1 works as expected.
I subscribe to elMengu's suggestion, with 2 additional points: 1. Personal preference would be for Lando's Falcon to get the axe. For some reason, I cannot stand L3's chimes during dogfighting. It was obnoxious in the movie, but here is simply unbearable. Fine ship otherwise. 2. As long as it doesn't break another fantastic mod: Ai Starfighter Heroes ("This Mod Forces Ai to Spawn As A Hero Ship in Arcade Starfighter Modes by Replacing a default ship class to that of a Hero/Villain Ship. Ai can now spawn as 1 designated Hero/Villain Per Team"). This little gem doubles the immersion of Starfighter Arcade, IMHO.
Anyway, IF you find this a good idea and decide to inject N-1 instead of Rey's or Lando's Falcon, it would have 2 additional benefits, as I see it: 1. This would work on all Space Maps with just one mod. Easier to manage/update. 2. This would only add ONE N-1 into the fight, which I think would be a lot cooler than seeing other teammates flying it as well.
Version 2 of T-65 X-Wing to N1 Starfigter tested and confirmed working. Thanks for the quick fix! Now waiting patiently for the (Lando's?) Falcon N-1 replacement :-)
Just tried the Rey Falcon Replacement, works like a charm. And being the only N-1 in the field, on any map, is trully awesome! :-) One question and if feasible, a suggestion for version 2: right now, the voiceover belongs to the ARC clone pilot, I believe. Is it possible to change this so that Rey speaks instead? That would push this mod to perfection! Thanks! PS: nice job on the N-1 picture in the ship selection screen ;-)
Played some more with it, and there's another issue that I believe was not present in the ARC replacement version: the Weapon Overcharge ability is not working in Rey Falcon replacement. IIRC, this worked when I first tried the ARC-170 to N1 iteration. Thanks! Edit: typo
Rey's Falcon replacement works like a charm and the fighter class star cards work as they're meant to. I was worried using them would prevent them from being de-selected without the mod active, causing the same problem AI Improvements did when it became outdated. But launching the game without mods automatically disables fighter class star cards for Rey's Falcon making the proper hero ship ones selectable, so that's good.
Also, weapon overcharge works for me with Rey's Falcon replacement.
Did additional testing individually with all 3 iterations of this mod concerning Weapon Overcharge ability. They all behave the same, in that there's no *visual* cue that it's working. Then I thought about re-enabling the hud and bingo, the hud shows that the ability is triggered correctly. So I guess it in effect works, although without the hud, I have no visual feedback of it working. In the end, my bad, please no longer consider this a bug.
Hey, no problem. How about that voiceover switch for the Rey's Falcon Replacement? Keeping Rey's sweet voice from the Falcon instead of that impersonal ARC clone pilot would add great value to this mod, methinks. Is this possible? Thanks!

I can't wait to play with this mod in multiplayer :( please!

I have added a Rebellion Era X-Wing replacement because of your request
and a Resistance file version is also on the way.
:)
Much, much, much appreciated!
