Hello, just passing by, i'm more into SWBF2 (2017) mods but I was just passing by out of curiosity for what's been going on for the (2015) game, also i'd like to just comment because I actually thought about this topic...
The default is actually the way the tie fighter is. They only look blue in ESB and ROTJ because of the 1997, 2004 and 2011 DVD/Blu Ray "special editions" which added colour filters which perverted all of the original colour scheme of the films, doing things like adding magenta (purplish hues) to skin tones, and blues to ice scenes and subsequently a blue tinge to the whole of ESB. These tints/filters added in to the original films are the cause of this confusion.
If you look at the Star Wars Despecialized Edition versions made by a fan-edit under "Harmy', the movies feature their original colour scheme and the tie fighters look a lot more like their natural selves. However in ESB even in this edition, in some scenes the tie fighters do appear blueish when they move, (when stationary and in other general shots they are still grey/white).
This is because of the blue screen that was used as well in the original film making process which can give a blue hue to moving objects, in the same way a green screen can feature green boxing/green hues to moving objects as seen clearly in ROTJ when tie fighters/imperial shuttles land/move if you watch closely.
Btw I'm not dissing you or this mod I love the fact that you did this, i'm just dropping some info just because i'm the biggest nerd when it comes to SW... This would be cool for people who prefer the blu ray style of the film (not me lol I like the original way) but yeah its very interesting you made this mod.
