Hi all!  Just a quick update on these mods:

I'm currently experimenting with the latest trends in generative AI to see if I can bring even MORE Majel Roddenberry back into the game!

It seems so darn fitting that she can now potentially be immortalized as a ship's AI computer using actual AI.  I'm really excited about these possibilities, and I'll hopefully have more news for you soon.

In the mean time, since the Temporal Recruitment event is running again, now might be a great time to try out my TOS fork!  (Will be super interesting to see if I can get the AI to sound like the TOS version of her voice, too...)

This is amazing. Would you be able to make one for Star Trek: Picard? Specifically with all of the Sounds from the last episode of season 3?

"Unraveled" has landed today, and this time I came prepared!  I've just put the finishing touches on the whopping 2.0 update for STO TNG, and it's available now!

"Why does this update warrant a '2.0' label," you ask?  Well, apart from replacing every sound effect (again!) that the Cryptic update broke (again!), QUITE a bit more music has been added that represents a ton of hours of work!

I mentioned before that I was unhappy with how often you're forced to listen to the same tracks play over and over again when you're busy sitting out in space sending your duty officers out to play a game of Fisbin.  And so, I have completed my makeshift solution for it.

Now, EVERY "exploration" track has been extended to a MINIMUM of 10 minutes of newly recorded and edited audio!  No repeated content, just brand new stuff that I've been working on that was taken entirely from the official Ron Jones collection - staying true to the early seasons of TNG while you're relaxing out in space.

In addition to the new music, I've snuck in a few more items of note:

    * The DS9 theme from season 4 and onward has been added to the DS9 exterior, so that it now plays BOTH fantastic versions from the show (the early years and the later years).

    * Level Up "chime" has once again been thankfully silenced!  Sir Patrick Stewart can again be heard in all his uninterrupted glory.

    * Weapon effects that were borked (Borged?) by Refractions have now (hopefully!) been fixed!

I have quite a few more things planned for this mod in the future, but for now, 2.0 is officially good to go!  Patch notes below.  :-)  If you discover anything still broken, let me know!  Now if you'll excuse me, I have to run off and fix the TOS fork!

    Spoiler:
    Show

    * The following modded tracks have been edited further and extended to A MINIMUM of 10 MINUTES by adding newly recorded audio to each:

Music_Explore1.fsb \ ST Light Explore 1 - "Booby Trap (Ancient Warship)"
    - added additional new content from "Booby Trap", "Best of Both Worlds" and "Yesterday's Enterprise"

    Music_Explore2.fsb \ ST Light Explore 2 - "Darmok"
    - added additional new content from "Farpoint"

Music_Explore3.fsb \ ST Light Explore 3 - "Encounter at Farpoint"
    - added the remaining unused (new) "Farpoint" content

Music_Explore4.fsb \ ST Light Explore 4 - "Family (All Good Things)"
    - added additional new content from "A Matter of Persepctive" and "The Naked Now"

Music_Explore5.fsb \ ST Light Explore 5 - "Skin of Evil"
    - added additional new content from "Where No Man Has Gone Before"

    Music_Explore6.fsb \ ST Light Explore 6 - "The Pegasus"
    - added additional new content from "Shades of Gray"

    Music_Explore8.fsb \ STO_Sector_Space_Map_2 - "Evolution - Double Star"
    - added additional new content from "Shades of Gray" and "Unification"

    Music_Explore9.fsb \ STO_Sector_Space_Map_3 - "WNOHGB - Talk with Mom"
    - added additional new content from "Brothers"

    Music_New_Romulus.fsb \ STO_Romulan Anbient 1 2013 - "Desert Trek"
    - added additional new content from "Hollow Pursuits"

    Music_New_Romulus.fsb \ New_Romulus_01 - "The Inner Light"
    - added additional new content from "Tin Man"

    * The DS9 theme from season 4 and onwards has been added to the DS9 exterior, so that it now plays BOTH fantastic versions.
    (Music_DS9.fsb \ DS9 - "DS9 themes S1 and S4")

    * Level Up "chime" has once again been thankfully silenced!  Sir Patrick Stewart can again be heard in all his uninterupted glory.

"Damn the torpedoes!"  It looks like Cryptic's mini patch after the main Unraveled update snuck in another torp sound effect for the Akira which screwed up the file labeling, inadvertently making photon and dark matter torps silent.  I've now fixed the issue and re-uploaded 2.0 to include the torp fix.  Thanks for the heads up, TatsumiChan!

You are an absolute legend. From game start up, to game play, even when I beam down to the academy (Sometimes do it on purpose just to hear "Faith") I am in Star Trek, I am the Captain, and the fate of the Federation is in my hands. Every time I start the game I hear Picard's voice reciting the captain's creed, in my mind the name of my ship for that captain replaces "Enterprise". I let the whole theme play before hitting the "Play" tab. And I get chills when the authentic "Transporter" sounds sending my captain, and his crew into action. You deserve every ounce of praise you have received from any true Trek fans that have commented, and praised before me. Do not stop in your ventures, and Boldly go (modding) where no one has gone before.
    Live Long, and prosper.

Great mod. Just wish you'd add Archers Theme as an option again. Don't really like hearing FAITH OF THE HEART every time I'm at starfleet, it's very jarring.

    Awesome! I love this mod.
One little suggestion. Is there any chance to implement the music from "First Contact" ? Perhaps at the Spacedock or Acadamy?

Hey there, sorry for the late reply.  Slight burnout again, but I'm slowly getting my energy back.  :-)

I purposely tried to avoid movie tracks because I wanted the game to feel more like an episode on television.  When I get a chance however, I'll add some alternatives to the optional files section like I had before the mod-pocalypse (Cryptic update).  I'll see about recording some movie tracks for you.  :-)

Happy to hear you're enjoying it otherwise!

There's no need for an apology.I love the TNG music. But I also love the music from 'First Contact' and just wanted to ask if it's possible. But don't stress about it. I really appreciate your work.

Appreciate the work you put into this. I know the nightmare it is trying to just find the correct sound files to just start something like this. I gave up trying to find the SFX for the pickup of buffs (like from the kobayashi maru summon) that I wanted to replace with a mute file.

I'm using the mod now but was curious about this file:
    UI_COMRAM.fsb\Warp_SpoolUp_DSC

I've always personally found the early TNG warp-out a poor effect so I was going to mess about my end with either restoring it or changing it to one of the other iterations but the FSBExtractor doesn't seem to want to let me edit the file. Do you use another tool to import sound files to the .FSB?

Hey there!  Sorry, I only now saw this.

FSBExtractor is only for extracting and listening to what is currently inside an FSB package.  In order to actually create an FSB file, you'll need a program like FOMOD Designer.  This is what I use to construct FSB packages from scratch.  Alternatively, if you just want a quick and dirty edit of an existing FSB for personal use, you could try a utility someone else on Nexus made called Dark Souls Sound Inserter.  (I say "personal use," because I don't remember if you're allowed to publish anything here if you use that, so you might want to check with the creator of that utility first if you do end up using it.)

Removing the UI_COMRAM.fsb from the sound folder will of course revert the warp spool-up back to current STO vanilla, but unfortunately, comram also comes with a ton of other sounds that you would be losing, too.  I did have an optional version of it for awhile that excluded the warp, but it got to be too much to maintain since Cryptic seems to mess with that particular file with every update.

There's some strange sound issue with the Obliviating Phaser Array and the Beam Overload bridge officer skill. When the overloaded beams fire, a highly pitched, distorted sound plays instead. Regular phaser arrays don't have this issue.

That's very odd.  I don't believe I even touched any of the FSB packages that contain those effects.  Can you confirm that the issue is no longer present when you remove the mod folder?

Thanks for working on this! Is there a way to hear how the beam overload sound is supposed to sound like, outside of the game? Its better, but it does still sound like a cassette tape being fast forwarded.

I managed to find a clip on YouTube that showcases the Obliviating Phaser Beam Array firing in different modes.  The Beam Overload version is in the second portion.  Is this how yours sounds?  Can you compare it both with and without the mod installed?  (Hopefully this video isn't out of date.)

Hi there, you did find the correct video! I have made a recording of how the overloaded phasers sound when I use your great mod:
      https://imgur.com/a/EzcHWGV

The youtube video you linked to, does accurately demonstrate the "normal" version of the overloaded phasers, without your mod.
The imgur link I recorded is when I use your TNG sound mod.

I hope this helps, I really love this mod and I can live with the sound if you cannot find the cause of this "sped up" overloaded sound.
      Thank you,

Hi all!  Just a tiny update tonight to fix a few remaining sound issues caused by Cryptic's Refractions update.  I thought I had caught them all, but a couple more have been reported.  Please try the new version and let me know if you discover anything else that Cryptic broke!

Also I'm aware that not everyone enjoys the Academy tracks, and I apologize for having to remove the optional alternative when everything got messed up.  I'll add it back to the optional files soon!

Very strange.  I was sure I had this fixed after the Refractions update.  I'll look into it today.  Is it specifically only "photon" torps that are affected, or is it affecting other torpedo types as well?

Great Sound mod. My only issue with it was anything to used the UI_COMRAM.fsb, had no sound at all. Everything else worked fine. Tried varies things to maybe getting it running, but no luck. Just that one file that didn't work. Had to remove it from the sound folder to get the stock sounds back. Runnng everything else though.
