Build remarkably functional salvaged starstations at your very own at outposts!
(Preview functionality - only for the MOST intrepid explorers)
Have you ever wondered what happens to all those starstations you cleared of spacers?
They get torn down for parts of course! Repurposing scrap is our business. Now you can have your very own scrap station, just like our scrap station, orbiting about our legendary scrap pile.
Get yours today!

Very early preview functionality has many bugs and quirks and should only be used for experimentation. You WILL experience issues, some of which cannot be fixed. It may break your game. Or cause your to head to explode with joy. Or catch on fire. Or house burn down. Anything's possible 😝
Rules:
* Do not try to fast travel to the initial, template station without first making a modification and saving. The template is broken.
* Never set the station as your home ship. It's like crossing the streams.
* Always quick-save before fast traveling to the station, just in case
* Put this mod as far down in your load order as you can (it is mostly compatible with TN's Class M ship building, but must be placed after)
* This is the first draft, and untested on Xbox as yet - please let me know how it works, and be patient please.
This mod enables the unfinished ability to create starstations at outposts in much the same way as a cargo link or landing pad. The capability already exists in the game, but it is VERY broken (and therefore disabled). This mod fixed enough of the bugs to make for a somewhat enjoyable experience.
You will find a new item in the Miscellaneous category at outposts called Outpost Starstation Orbital Control. It is a HUGE rocket on a launch pad with a control panel. Access the control panel to create and modify the station using the ship builder interface (The station is added as the last ship in your list and remains in the list like a ship, but do NOT try to fly it 🤣. If you make it your home ship, it will be broken, and you will need to reload.
There are new categories in the ship builder with station habs, structural and various functional components. Note that you will have more luck adding new parts unattached as the ship builder filters things oddly)
Habs will always open the bottom center door to an adjoining hab by default, but routing works very much like ship modules -- it ensures all habs are reachable, but not always via the means you want. This means you can now make multi-level stations that are fully connected and accessible via stairs by staggering habs.
New functionality:
* A new radar-dish style orbital ship command (so you don't need to add the extra docker)
* The ability to fast travel to the station safely*, directly from the terminal (Thanks to Vex from nexus mods for the idea and for the only other option to date!)* A window module that contains an overpowered decorator panel.
* A couple example station "chunks" -- large prefabricated structures used in stations in the game. (There are many more, but these are extremely experimental)
* Truss Bridge is now a fully functional hab module, complete with previously unused interior hatch plugs, and a very swanky custom docker door socket. Windows are no longer portals into the void.
* New and dramatically improved snap node art for the station modules (still WIP, but much improved).
* All dockers are now fully functional with correctly aligned docking hardware. Docking works the same as any other station now, and you only need one docker (but can have more)* Structural versions of the hab modules without any plugs or interior for creating bulk without wasting resources.
Unresolved issues:
* Stations are not removed when you remove the outpost rocket. They can be deleted from your ship list, then destroyed from space, but the map marker is permanent.
* If you fast travel to the station using the terminal and there is a problem with the dockers on either your home ship, or the station -- you will be trapped.
* Sometimes stations get glitched or disappear (just like outposts...)
* If you try to fast travel _from_ the station, and your ship is not docked properly, bad things will happen.
* The game will allow you to set a station as your home ship - and this is game-breaking, you will have to reload. Don't do it.
* Habs placed directly on top of each other may not get routed correctly (fixed in next release).
* Top and bottom windows are decorative only.
* All parts have no cost or level / skill requirements. (Told you it was scrap 😁)
The following issues have been largely resolved:
* Only one or two of the dockers were (partially) functional, however docking was often impossible.
* Openings were rarely ever created between habs.
* The models for the habitable side caps did not have door holes cut out (and one was glitched on the back side).
* The script for the management terminal was broken.
* The management terminal was positioned on the wrong side of the launch platform.
* Attempting to fast travel from within a station was always catastrophic.
* Attempting to fast travel to the station would often CTD.
* The bridge truss broke when attached to a docker (or a window, or nothing lol)... There's more, this has been many months in the making
I hope you enjoy creating your own space dungeons as much as I enjoyed completely destroying so many savegames to bring them to you 🤣
And do be careful - this is experimental at best and has not been well tested. This is just for fun, to see what it is like, and to explore new features before they are completely ready.
