In case anyone else cant get the mod to work by pasting it in the Starfield folder, it just so happens that if you have other textures there, you should just paste the mod folder outfit_ranger_01 directly into Documents\My Games\Starfield\Data\Textures\clothesThat solved it for me. Anyway, thanks for this, LOVE the black.
I cannot seem to get this mod or another clothing mod to work. I have the steam version of the game.
I tried manually installing the texture files to both these locations - C:/Program Files (x86)/Steam/steamapps/common/Starfield/Data/textures/clothes/outfit_ranger_01 - Documents/My Games/Starfield/Data/Textures/Clothes/outfit_ranger_01.
The game is installed on the same drive as both of these directories.
I have a StarfieldCustom.ini configuration file in the My Games/Starfield folder with the following posted into it [Archive] bInvalidateOlderFiles=1 sResourceDataDirsFinal=
The .ini set as read only as was mentioned somewhere else.
I even installed Vortex and tried doing the mod installation through that, but then I go into Starfield, use the console command to generate the apparel, and it looks exactly the same way that it always does. I've been troubleshooting this for hours now and it's driving me totally nuts. What am I missing here?" Hoping you can help.
also just to confirm, could you post the console commands for the relevant items? I mean the other mod doesn't seem to be working either but it would still be nice to confirm.
Hey man, good idea for a mod I appreciate it. But I can't seem to get this to work.
I copied the data folder directly to documents/mygames/starfield as instructed and overwrote several times, no change. I spawned new versions of the trenchcoat via console, no change. I even backloaded to a save from before I spawned any of the trenchcoats, no change.
My filepaths look like this: C:\Users\username\Documents\My Games\Starfield\Data\clothes\outfit_ranger_01 (contains 12 .dds files) C:\Users\username\Documents\My Games\Starfield\Data\clothes\outfit_colonist_adventurousponcho_01 (contains a single .dds file)
I did that whole quest line from start to finish (so far as I am aware, as per the guide I used) and I never got anything like the one in the first image. Where do you get that?
Its the one the Marshall and a couple of NPCs use. I haven't encountered it to pick up from anywhere but you can always add it via console. It's called Ranger Dustwear

Delete Data folder from [Documents/My Games/Starfield]
Paste the mod folder in [Documents/My Games/Starfield]
Maybe your issue is the same as me, for some reason Data archive created from Vortex didnt work 🤗
