I'm using 5b, this is exactly what I wanted from a stealth overhaul. Not too easy and still challenging enough in a fun way. I almost quit the whole game because I couldn't be a stealthy space assassin, but this mod completely redeemed the game for me <3
100% guaranteed the best stealth overhaul on Nexus, and anyone who disagree, are wrong. Bethesda should have released it this way.
these settings are near perfect and no other ini tweaks are close, trust me i've spent an inordinate amount of time testing and trying to rectify stealth.
Great mod, significantly better and has way more thought put into it than the more popular Stealth Overhaul mod. Instead of just making stealth easier, this makes stealth an actual mechanic.
I do have a question though about how stealth in general interacts with gear in the game I'm hoping you know the answer to. If I have it set to take off my space suit when I'm in a breathable atmosphere, do you know if it actually removes the mass of the gear as calculated for stealth, or do I need to manually take my gear off for it to count?
Asking because my game seems to have a bug in it where taking my spacesuit off even in breathable atmosphere causes my character to suffocate.
thanks!! and kudos, that's a really appreciated comparison you made between this mod and the other stealth mods out there! ...about the other mod, if when you "physically" take off the spacesuit in breathable atmosphere the character suffocates, it seems to me that the spacesuit is otherwise always "on" by default, just not visible in cities and planets with breathable air, which would mean that your character still weighs the same, with or without the spacesuit and helmet and backpack and stuff, making more noise at all times, but since I don't have that mod, so I can't say for sure... the only way to know for sure is to approach an enemy from behind ( without spacesuit) with that mod active and compare the "stealth meter" changes behind the same enemy later with that mod disabled ( without spacesuit)
This mods causes ennemies to be at totally stupid, if not brainless. However, this can be fixed by decreasing fSneakDistanceAttenuationExponent to something between 7 and 10 (lowest = more difficult). I think that multiple BGS updates have changed sneak and the mod is outdated (at least Version 5) but it is still a great mod, because you can customize it by simply changing some lines.
Does this mod accurately reflect how sound can't transmit without an atmosphere?
I get that gameplay balance says someone should more easily notice you sneaking up on them in a 20kg space suit than a 10kg suit, but when there's no actual atmosphere to transmit sound then the vibrations from your footsteps through the ground is all your target can detect. Even that will be a significantly reduced radius compared to sound transmission, and if one were to try being realistic it should be noted that vibrations will travel better through metal than dirt/dust. Then there's the issue of whether or not they'd even feel it through their own spacesuit.
Really this is one of the few situations where stealth is actually justified in being broken-OP in that so long as there's no atmosphere and they can't see you then you could be doing jumping jacks in a 50kg suit and they shouldn't be able to notice you 5m behind them.
Studied astrophysics in college. This is correct. It's the main thing that has bugged me about this game. There should be no sound in space or on any planets that don't have an atmosphere. Thankfully there is a no sound in space mod but no stealth mods so far that make it realistic.
ok that makes sense, Not related to that but recently I feel starfield isn't a very good game, I was hyped at first, but now I see all the flaws, maybe not even mods can fix it
You also get sound transmission through support beams, frame components, water, and various other things - but stealth should definitely be easier without air, and in (much) thinner air. (Thicker atmosphere might actually make stealth slightly harder, but we'd need a physicist to weigh in) Particles from explosions in space should rattle off of your spaceship quite audibly - and it seems reasonable for spaceships to *simulate* sound in sound's absence to make it easier to locate things (although that would have to be made explicit in a game).
But yeah, wandering around in soft moon dust at night should make for really easy stealth, where the skill would help not trip, hiccup, kick pebbles, reflect light by turning your helmet the wrong way, and other innumerable seemingly-inconsequential potential stealth breakers.
im not a scientist nor have I studied anything about physics but if im in an environment that I need to wear a spacesuit and there are other humans there who have to as well, wouldn't sound be muffled with that headgear an astronaut puts on before they put on their helmets and then theres the breathing sound with the helmet on from the oxygen backpacks?
Just wanted to drop in and say thank you for the mod. I hated the way StarField implemented stealth and the way every NPC on the planet suddenly knows your EXACT location as soon as the first shot is fired. I've used your FO4 stealth mod for some time and really enjoyed it so I have high hopes with this one too.

Crazy
I feel like i am in Ghost Recon wildands ^^
yes that was the goal

Maybe author could consider giving it an update ?
