      All uploaded archives are functional - noting for people who'll look at this thread.

    Hi, I have some weird issue with it. When I do add the special line in the INI to get the textures into the archive, it completely screws over like.... everything. For example when I start a new game, everyone looks like he/she is made from copper. Their skin looks like metalic copper.
    Any idea what this could cause ?

    If I do let out the line in the INI file, I don't have an issue except that i missing the textures of course, but I can select the extra hairstyles etc. Just not the colors.

      Hi. I've never encountered this issue while testing Hair Overhaul or installing other mods. You might try to move your current StarfieldCustom.ini somewhere else and create a new StarfieldCustom.ini, there are some guides about StarfieldCustom.ini and about how to install .ba2 texture archive mods properly. Also, worth noting the longest example line in the description that states it's not for copying is not for copying, it's for the reference. The thing you should do is to add Hair Overhaul archive names to existing line after a comma if you're installing manually or if the archives aren't recognized by the game/your mod manager, if any. And, this mod doesn't contain extra hairstyles.
      If you'll still encounter issues with it after standard troubleshooting like creating a new INI (make backups, always), you may reply to this post, I'll try to help you. If you do, please tell if you use a mod manager, and if yes which one. Good luck modding!:)

      I was having this exact issue when adding the line to StarfieldCustom.ini, until I figured out that if you are going to add ANY textures into the StarfieldCustom.ini file, you have to first add the 13 default textures or everything will be screwed up.

      sResourceIndexFileList=Starfield - LODTextures.ba2, Starfield - Textures01.ba2, Starfield - Textures02.ba2, Starfield - Textures03.ba2, Starfield - Textures04.ba2, Starfield - Textures05.ba2, Starfield - Textures06.ba2, Starfield - Textures07.ba2, Starfield - Textures08.ba2, Starfield - Textures09.ba2, Starfield - Textures10.ba2, Starfield - Textures11.ba2, Starfield - TexturesPatch.ba2

      THEN add the textures from this mod, starting with a comma then space.

      Thank you. I came here with the same problem and this fixed it. I've been modding a long time, but this one had me confused. It would be helpful if this info was included in the mod description.

      Btw, I tried to report you, but "awesome" wasn't an option.

    I Love these haircolors and I was kinda wondering if it was possible to have the same colors added to the eyebrow color slots? I like to match the haircolor and eyebrowcolors in my character. Also eyebrows are a bit underapriciated in the game. Lots of eyes, hairstyles ,haircolors, tatoos etc, but not a lot for the eyebrows. These colors for the eyebrows would be awesome, if it is possible and not annoying.

      Hi and thanks! Adding eyebrow support might be such a task, because all of the hair should match stylistically. If I'll simply take existing eyebrow texture and recolor it, it might not look as good as it might be because of the dds compression, coming to the conclusion that to add eyebrow support, I might need to remake all the eyebrow textures using the my methods. Well, it might come in the future when I'll finish my another upcoming mod!;)

    Hi, I cannot get the new colors to show up.

    Do I install one main file AND one color file, or use only a color file if I want to add the new colors?

    I've tried adding both a main and a color file as separate mods, merging them as one mod, and only using a color file as one mod. In either case I don't get any additional colors. I'm using MO2.

      Hello! New colors can work without the main file, but main file is recommended because of opacity maps. Without the main file, new colors would look incorrectly - they would still work, but might look not as on images. I use MO2 too, and to have both new colors and the main hair overhaul mod, I recommend installing them as separate mods. Order of the main file and optional new colors file doesn't matter here.
      New colors require RTFP (Real Time Form Patcher), as the main file does. There's a txt file SFSE\Plugins\RealTimeFormPatcher\HairOverhaul - New Colors.txt that makes new colors available in-game, and it would work only with RTFP installed. If new colors (the colors at the end of the list in the character creator menu) are all brown, then it's something with your archive installation; you might need to add archives manually to the StarfieldCustom.ini. Have a good time modding:)

      Turns out the archives from this mod do not have a checkmark next to them in MO2. Any idea why this would be the case? Archives from other (many) mods I've installed have checks by them.

      Then, you might want to enable those archives manually by editing StarfieldCustom.ini
      As I know, if archives don't have an associated .esm, they need to be added manually to the StarfieldCustom.ini, but I can't be sure about everyone's setup. But I see you have figured it out:)

      Hi, can I just check you meant Starfield.ini in the game folder, not starfieldcustom.ini in the documents/game folder? as there is no lines in starfieldcustom.ini like sResourceIndexFileList, that is in the starfield.ini in the actual game folder.

      Reason I ask is I have installed both the main file and the file from the optional files to get the extra hairstyles, but none of the main hairs have changed and the new style numbers are there but the hair colours are all Green (which is the last colour from the original colours).

      Any help with this would be appreciated.
      Thanks.

      EDIT: btw I did try adding the lines as suggested to the sResourceIndexFileList line, shown below in the Starfield.ini file.
      sResourceIndexFileList=Starfield - LODTextures.ba2, Starfield - Textures01.ba2, Starfield - Textures02.ba2, Starfield - Textures03.ba2, Starfield - Textures04.ba2, Starfield - Textures05.ba2, Starfield - Textures06.ba2, Starfield - Textures07.ba2, Starfield - Textures08.ba2, Starfield - Textures09.ba2, Starfield - Textures10.ba2, Starfield - Textures11.ba2, Starfield - TexturesPatch.ba2, SOT.ba2, HairOverhaul - Textures.ba2, HairOverhaulNewColors - Textures.ba2, HairOverhaul - Materials.ba2

      Hi. Installation method for Hair Overhaul .ba2 archives is the same as for all .ba2 archives mods. I've always installed all .ba2 mods using the method I've described (with StarfieldCustom.ini), if it doesn't work for you, then you might look for other methods for installing .ba2 archives for Starfield on the internet or install as you usually install .ba2 archives. To add, this mod doesn't add custom hairstyles, only custom hair colors, as seen in images. Hair overhaul contains no meshes or nif edits. I've also never encountered all hair becoming green in my tests, there might be something incorrect about your installation. Try standard troubleshooting if you're experiencing any issues. Have a good time, and may it work on your end;)

      Thank you for your reply, my bad I didn't mean new hairs but the colours, it appears it is just the new colours that are not working.

      I have now tried adding the new lines to my StarfieldCustom.ini in my \Documents\My Games\Starfield folder, as shown below.
      [Archive]
      bInvalidateOlderFiles=1
      sResourceDataDirsFinal=
      SResourceArchiveList=Starfield - Animations.ba2, Starfield - DensityMaps.ba2, Starfield - FaceAnimation01.ba2, Starfield - FaceAnimation02.ba2, Starfield - FaceAnimation03.ba2, Starfield - FaceAnimation04.ba2, Starfield - FaceAnimationPatch.ba2, Starfield - FaceMeshes.ba2, Starfield - GeneratedTextures.ba2, Starfield - LODMeshes.ba2, Starfield - LODMeshesPatch.ba2, Starfield - Materials.ba2, Starfield - Meshes01.ba2, Starfield - Meshes02.ba2, Starfield - MeshesPatch.ba2, Starfield - Misc.ba2, Starfield - Particles.ba2, Starfield - PlanetData.ba2, Starfield - Terrain01.ba2, Starfield - Terrain02.ba2, Starfield - Terrain03.ba2, Starfield - Terrain04.ba2, Starfield - TerrainPatch.ba2
      sResourceIndexFileList=Starfield - LODTextures.ba2, Starfield - Textures01.ba2, Starfield - Textures02.ba2, Starfield - Textures03.ba2, Starfield - Textures04.ba2, Starfield - Textures05.ba2, Starfield - Textures06.ba2, Starfield - Textures07.ba2, Starfield - Textures08.ba2, Starfield - Textures09.ba2, Starfield - Textures10.ba2, Starfield - Textures11.ba2, Starfield - TexturesPatch.ba2, SOT.ba2, HairOverhaul - Textures.ba2, HairOverhaulNewColors - Textures.ba2, HairOverhaul - Materials.ba2

      but the new colours do not work still, the numbers are there, 9 new colours but they do not change the colour of the hair, but what I have noticed is that the scalp colour changes underneath the hair, I was able to see this using a very short hairstyle and changing the colours.

      Green is the last colour of the default hair colours, number 23. 24 to 32 then stay green for the hair but the scalp colour changes under the hair, it seems, the colours are changing just not being applied to the actual hair, sorry if this is not very clear, not sure how else to explain it.

      I tried with the default hairs btw.

      Thank you again for your help. it is appreciated.

      What seems to be happening is new hair colors are there (RTFP edits do work), but the game can't find textures. What is your mod manager? If mod organizer 2, please check the archives tab, hair overhaul archives should have a checkmark near to the archive name if it's enabled. If some other mod manager, check if archive is installed correctly in a way that is specific for your mod manager. Universal tip would be try redownloading just in case file got corrupted on your end for some reason like internet connection. Also, be sure the game actually reads your StarfieldCustom.ini. But if nothing works on your end, try extracting the new colors archive with any .ba2 archive extractor (like BAE) and try the loose files.

      I am using Vortex.

      I checked the .ba2 files are placed in the Data folder and tried redownloading fresh files, same thing again.

      It is really strange, it is like it is not reading either my Starfield.ini or the StarfieldCustom.ini for just this mod, I have Starfield Optimized Textures installed which asks to place SOT.ba2 in the Starfield.ini after the lines in sResourceIndexFileList= and that seems to be working fine, I have also other custom lines added to StarfieldCustom.ini for things like running a bat file, change of FOV and ultrawide settings, all of which seem to be working ok.

      I will try download a ba2 extractor and try that.

      Thanks again for the help :)

    Hi,
    Quick question, would this work together with a hair replacer mod? I have poptart's hair for a custom Andreja model i'm using, i checked that one and it's only meshes so i'm guessing it just uses the vanilla textures. Is this mod only textures or also meshes?

      Hello! Yes, no meshes are there, will work with such hair replacer. Also, I've tested it with various mods that add custom hairstyles, it will work as long as long as those use vanilla textures and vanilla materials.

      I know I'm a difficult person. I wasn't asking YOU to go and make one but, thank you very much for humoring an old guy. It's just that over the years I have found that when someone makes a mod for something that has been done by a well known/established modder they usually are aware of the differences their mod brings to the table. it's the reason I asked; nothing more. I installed the 4k and I decided to keep it. It is a higher res than SavrenX which uses only the 2k. As I mentioned before I'm a freak about high res textures in my games. Thank you for a beautiful mod. :) Endorsed!

    Would you be willing to take another stab at short afro hair (Barret), please? The translucency is unnaturally strong for that one.
