About this mod

Tweaks the conditions for when your spacesuit is automatically hidden, and better synchronizes your follower's suit behavior with your own.

Changelogs
The "Standard" version of this mod does the following things:
  • Hides your spacesuit while inside of a sealed starship, including your home ship.
  • Hides your spacesuit while on a safe, breathable planet. For example, anywhere on Jemison outside of New Atlantis.
  • If you step into a sealed area on a world where you need a spacesuit, only your helmet will be hidden. Follower spacesuit behavior will be synced to yours a bit in those areas (more info below).
  • Followers no longer needlessly wear their helmets in breathable environments.
  • Your Parallel Self duplicate will now use the same spacesuit behavior as followers, rather than always wearing a spacesuit.

There is one exception to the sealed starship rule. In a particular ship with fluctuating gravity, I have it set so that space suits are always on without helmets. This fixes the goofy vanilla behavior of followers equipping and unequipping their suit every 20 seconds or so, whenever it switches to zero g and back. Now they just keep their suit on the entire time, like you do.

The "Cold Planets and NPC Helmets" version includes the above features, plus these:
  • Spacesuits without helmets will be worn on breathable worlds which are cold, but not cold enough to be hazardous. If you step into a sealed area, you and your follower will leave your suits on, unless you manually take your suit off (more info below). Other NPCs will take off their suits in these areas.
  • All NPCs no longer needlessly wear their helmets in breathable environments. This means you can now see Brogan's face on Kreet, for example. Ecliptic NPCs are excluded from this rule, since their voices are designed with helmets in mind.

For follower suit synchronization: If you are on a planet where your suit is shown, and you step into a sealed area, you and your follower will only take off your helmets (if you had one on). I did it this way because I felt like it was a bit too much to automatically unequip your entire space suit for these areas, since you usually only enter them for a moment or two while exploring. However, if you manually unequip your suit in these areas (to unwind in a home base or something), they will also unequip theirs. They still have a brain though, so if you walk back outside without your suit on, they will put theirs back on anyway. These rules only apply to your current follower, not other NPCs.

Followers will NOT equip a spacesuit when they otherwise would not. They will only unequip it if it’s unnecessary to have one in a sealed area, and if you have also unequipped yours.

This mod does not use any scripts. It simply modifies the existing vanilla system for showing and hiding suits and helmets.

Installing
Can be installed mid-save and should work immediately. No special steps required. Either use your favorite mod manager to install automatically, or manually install it by extracting the ESM into your Data folder, then updating your plugins.txt file.

Uninstalling
Can be removed at any time, doesn't matter. No scripts, so it's completely safe. You will immediately see vanilla behavior again upon loading a save which previously had this mod.

Compatibility
Modifies the following conditional forms:
  • ActorShouldHideSpacesuitHelmetCosmeticBreathable [CNDF:000B1208]
  • ActorShouldHideSpacesuitCosmeticSettlement [CNDF:000B120A]
  • ActorShouldShowSpacesuitCosmetic [CNDF:000E55E4]
  • ActorShouldShowSpacesuitGameplay [CNDF:000E55E5]
  • ActorShouldShowSpacesuit [CNDF:00194ABF]

If you have any other mods which override these... well, it's probably another auto-hide behavior mod, so choose which one you want lol. If not, load this mod below that mod.

Known Issues
Nothing. “It just works!”
