So a great new way to do armor mods is shown and people whine about companions in these comments. even the mod author. But really? You liked the previous companions in previous Bethesda games? Rose colored shades and all that?

I am going to see what else can be done functionally with conditionally state change in conjunction with the aesthetic changes. So thank you for the demo...it's sparking things

no if only it could actually move, instead of an instant state swap

Very similar to AFT - Amazing Follower Tweaks from Skyrim. The Starfield vanilla system but now expanded in SF like AFT. Awesome. AFT allowed your outfit to change dynamically, depending on if you were in a city, exploring, in combat, a house, etc. This will be great for SF.

Except we'll need better companions in Starfield. I hate everyone in Constellation except Vasco.

      you and me both.

after a couple of runs with all four of them, I've removed affinity gain altogether via xEdit because I don't even want to listen to them pestering me about wanting to talk to me the few times I get to the Lodge (which tends to happen because the MQ forces you to bring them along on several occasions).

You meant five (Cora). I can jettison cargo, and she fits into the cargo hold, right?

You should definitely try to get the other "?You" universe. I just used the console commands. I love that character's voice actor and actress - especially the female character who sounds much younger than Grandma Sarah. They have pleasant personalities, are enthusiastic, non-judgemental, happy to be around you (without the creepiness of the Adoring Fan), and generally have nice comments for various scenarios, such as when you're encumbered, using your power, crafting, etc. Mine was glitched because she kept talking about needing a spacesuit, but I can look past that. Now my ship has me, myself, the Adoring Fan, and an OP Vasco with all the ship perks running a logistic business while obliterating enemies along the way. After 20 levels into the new universe, the Lodge is still empty because I didn't bother to look for the artefacts or gather the rest of the Constellation Crew.

tbh I found the idea of taking a kid with me aboard a combat spaceship so ridiculous, that I practically refuse to believe she actually exists half the time - and the rest of Constellation gaslighting you for pointing out you're not comfortable with that is just about the most unhinged s#*! Bethesda has ever written (and that includes Kirkbride's Morrowind stuff).

Yeah, exploring only--maybe, but a kid anywhere close to combat . . .  That is a VERY BAD DAD!  What if everybody dies and she is stranded on the ship on some faraway planet?  And of course, we have to suspend a lot to think that we can board enemy ships but they do not board our ships.  Kind of like a mercenary company leaving kids on the airplane at the landing strip a mile away from their target.  Great idea.

I think I like the companions slightly more than you guys, but when they start horning in on high level conversations with their opinion!  I mean,  a little nagging I can handle, but messing with negotiations???  VERY BAD.  Where's my conversation line, "Excuse me sir, might I speak with my companion here in private for a moment" or failing with that and in keeping with dress downs in front of others, "Please ignore my companion here, he is rudely unable to see that though disagreement is possible, there is no need to be rude when you, sir, have been completely polite in your discussion and we have not yet touched upon privately nor in front of you the larger ramifications of these issues.  Please continue, and XXXX I ask that you please give Mr. YYYY the respect he deserves to at least hear him out before jumping to conclusions."  That seems a bit long and too polite, but that is how I would respond in certain situations (I was once an attorney).  A different response I would like in a less formal setting is, "Will you shut the hell up and let the man speak?  Why the hell did you come with me if you weren't going to listen and had already made up your mind?  If you have a problem with our strategy, talk to me ahead of time or after, but do not undercut the missions!  Get outta my sight!   Now!"

Was a great turn of events.  I could not resist saying something when he mentioned taking Cora into space battles!  I had the exact same thought.

I would not mind having a set-up related to high gravity and low gravity too.  I do not know if I like switching in the middle of a battle, but it would be nice to have a setup I could use pre-battle, and different ones for different planetary conditions (like high rad or cold or whatnot).  I already do that manually for myself anyway if there is time (but I don't change in the middle of the battle--in a break, yes).  (I make up rules for myself--sometimes unreasonably old school in how I play but I figure if I get surprised in a fight, I deserve the beating.  Also it means I plan ahead enough that my other suits are ambush ready at least).

This mod only makes cosmetic model changes. It has no practical effects or advantages except for the cool factor. LarannKiar's mod allows customisation for the high-G and zero-G conditions, but you'll need to manually change your suit if you want better protection or functionality.

This mod setup shines in high-tech, sci-fi-style spacesuits. Imagine the moment you draw your weapon; your visor drops down, your armour plates move into positions, the thruster ports of your suit and jet pack open, and the light glow of your suit changes in intensity and colours; all these are possible if you have the correct model assets and set up using the methods shown in my mod demo.

I see!  I first read "conditional outfit change" to mean changing your outfit based on conditions--when I later read dynamic, I took that to mean on the fly.   I did not think to change what I was thinking when you actually said, "dynamic changes in your outfit."  Which does not mean I am changing my outfit--my outfit is actually changing in certain ways.  Same helmet but visor is up instead of down, for instance.

I actually really, really like the idea of what you are doing then.  This is just one of those immersive details that would be nice to see in the game!

Sure is funny how I can misread stuff though.  Do it all the time lately.

And given the direction other mods go, I am surprised that nobody has tried to make a mod that reconfigures your equipment automatically as conditions change.  Maybe they did and I don't know about it.

Awesome work.  It'd be interesting to see the visor open/close get animated with the new animation framework - I might look into this sometime in the future

Only for Vanguard for this demo mod, but this could be altered if you know how to edit the .nif files. In NifSkope, you'll need to find the BSLightingShaderProperty and change the .mat file path. Change the word "Vanguard" to one of these:
      01
      Sy920
      Sysdef

Thanks for the tip. Would I need to use NifSkope to swap the apparel choice from Vanguard Space Suit to a retextured Xeno Space Suit? Or can I use the mesh files and just rename them to match yours?

No. The Xeno suit is an entirely different outfit.

Same. Then, I don't have to find all these workarounds, and I'll get more ported assets from FO4 for kit-bashings. I don't care much about Constellation or the main quest story; the game is a giant sandbox with almost limitless potential.
