Thought a little article about the why and what might be useful.
Motivation
When building ships I quickly ran into a few "annoyances":
Big ships look whimsical/weird due only being able to add a max of 6 engines and weapons per slot
Engine/Weapon choice is dictated by stats. Requiring to choose parts that are not a visual fit
Granularity power distribution wise is bad. Adding a single eninge/weapon results in upping power draw by 2-4.
Lasers are useless. Doing less Shield damage than Particle weapons.
Solution
So was born the idea of 1-pip engines and weapons. That all have identical stats. But cover the visually beefy existing looks.
